Smile Welcome to the forum!

Hope you like this forum! I wasn't quite sure what a Bernese was so I looked it up. Sounds like it will be a great dog for the area you are in and a good dog too for your children to grow up with. You prob. already have 'researched' the Bernese but here is a good link on the breed and some great pics too. Note that there is another page of pics to click on at bottom of the 1st page. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of pages--ads get in the middle and are misleading. Bernese Mountain Dog Information and Pictures, Berner, Berners

Hey! Be sure to keep us posted when you get the little puppy and would love to see pics of Ruckus too.

How exciting to be preparing for your puppy. The time between choosing him and bringing him home can seem endless can't it! The nearest I have ever got to a Bernese is a Steiff toy - but I bet the real thing is even more cuddly.

Hope you will post lots of pics of Ruckus so we can watch him grow up. Great name btw!

Found this:Great Bernese, Bernese Mountain Dog Great Pyrenees Hybrid Not much there but the info in the 1st link I gave would pretty much apply and if a person checked out: Great Pyrenees Information and Pictures, Flock Guardian and took the traits/info and mixed it wth the Bernese info--Would get some idea as to what this Ruckus might be like--But being he is considered a mixed breed (Some call Designer--but same thing!) you will not know which breed he takes the most after--could be either one or a good combo of both breeds.

We have looked at a ton of website on both breeds and got a ton of information. I did my research because having two kids and young ones at that you can't just pick any breed. We have found that both breeds are great with children. We are big dog people so this breed fit us perfectly

I figured, after my reading on this dog--you must have researched as to me it sounds like you have made a great choice--also for your area--These 2 breeds aren't good for hot climates as you know. Hope you have a lot of 'warm' tales to tell us all. Bet your children are going to be nuts about Ruckus!:-D

I'm sure it's very exciting waiting on your new guy to come home. I also hope you'll stick around & share w/us the milestones you'll be having with Ruckus.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
