I don't want to wait 6 years to get another dog. We'll see how things go and if I find I have enough time, I may consider getting another husky.
I see you have an akita. I hear they're a pretty rough breed, is he or she a rough dog?

It depends on what rough means. She's my first Akita, and at this rate won't be my last. I do see why people often advise new dog owners not to get an Akita. They're not the easiest dogs, nor typical, so I don't think they're good dogs for everyone. I think either you mesh well with their temperament or you don't. I will say, socialization is very important with Akita's since they seem to easily become finicky in different situations.
Btw I personally feel Huskies & terriers are more difficult dogs than Akita's. I know it probably seems funny but I think in the end what's easy is what most easily compliments your own personality. I'm so not a husky or terrier kind. They are both such gorgeous kinds of dogs but they would drive me crazy on the everyday level.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
