New puppy owner/husky owner. Needing advice too.
Hi my name is amrita. About 6 hours ago I brought home my first Puppy. A little girl Husky. Name pending. Well Its time for me to go to bed...and I have put her in the laundry with lots of blankets, pillows and water, even hidden a few treats for her to find if she gets bored. she is 9 moths old. Im currently laying here listening to her wail...been 40mins...she seems to have gone suddenly quite literally as I write this. I was just want to make sure I was doing the right thing. Advice from Husky owners most welcome.

Wow it must be hard to hear her cry like that. I'm sure she'll be fine though.
Welcome to the forum, by the way! I'm new too!

Huskies are very social breed that need to be near you at all times. Why do you not have the dog in your room at night.
More research into choosing a breed would be recommended as this one if you are going to be leaving it separate from the family at night would not be the best choice.

i have a 6 month old, and yes your doing the right thing! no worries! crate training is also an option. i didn't want to at first, but now he loves his crate, and will willingly just take naps in there during the day

Hi New Husky Owner
Just read your post and thought I give you a quick reply. By the way my nickname is "The Husky". I applaud you in not going to see your new pup when it starting crying. It's so tempting to give in and go and comfirt them. It seems like you are doing exactly what you need to do..hard as it is. Just keep up what you're doing and after a few nights your pup will settle down and get use to the routine. Good luck and enjoy your new found friend.

Here is a reply I made recently to another member in this forum: I don't know if many people have the old fashioned wind-up alarm clocks but here is a little hint/idea if you do have or can get one---Put the ticking clock in with her bedding (cover it up a little bit with the bedding) in a corner of her bed. It will remind her of her mother's/siblings heartbeats and may comfort her.

First off, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new puppy! I have 2 dogs myself, that are well out of the puppy stage but I recently just watched a friend's puppy and it gave me a quick reminder of how tough it is with a new puppy. The pup just needs to adjust to your routine and she will calm down quickly. Since it was said that huskies do prefer to be around people, perhaps you can crate her in your room? I did that with the puppy I watched and the first few nights she yipped and cried for awhile but then after that she got used to the routine and I didn't hear a peep out of her. She would just walk in her crate at bedtime and I also put a sheet over it for comfort. (some dogs prefer this, some don't) But maybe just being in the room with you will help your new pup. Just a thought! Good luck
