Im from Gainesville Florida. I have 2 lovable rescue pups. Princess is a 3 year old black wire-haired doxie. Anabelle is a 4 months old Doxie/Beagle and full of LIFE! I pretty much rescued them from being put into a kill shelter. My sister in law coulnt keep Princess and their friend couldn't keep Anabelle so I took them before theywere sent to their death. I am Deaf and so Im having Anabelle trained and tagged as a service dog. Princess is a bit over her age for that type of training.
Both dogs are happy now and well taken care of.

Hi & welcome!
I would think 3 years old would also be a good age for service dog training, but I confess that I know nothing about the training service dogs have to go through. I can barely manage the basic training. I'm sure your dogs are happy you rescued them! (and I will add, I think your SIL & friend are lucky to have someone so caring around!) I hope you enjoy it here on the forum.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
