Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and my "death row dog" millie.
A little about me: I am a self taught dog triner, I do it as a hobby, just to help friends & family with their unruly dogs so they dont end up having to get rid of them.
A little about millie: millie is a sweet chihuahua who rescued me about a year ago. I was at one of the lowest points in my life when I caught my ex fiancee cheating on me with my childhood best friend. I went to the local shelter just to see what was there, not looking to get a dog just yet, I was more or less "shopping around". All the dogs were jumping, yelping, whining, barking ect. When I cme to millie's cage, I noticed she was the only dog who was shaking in the corner, she had her back turned to me, she couldnt bring herself to look at me, she urinated on herself when I made kissy noise at her. Just seeing her in such a state of terror almost made me cry. I stood up to look at her kennel card, it said she is not good with cats, dogs, or kids. She was also labled a fear biter. Something compelled me tofill out an application so that I could take a look at her. When we got into the meet & greet room, she put her paws on my knee as if saying "im scared, please take me home" I realized we both needed some love and attention & thus we might just be a perfect match! I went back to the office to finalize the paperwork while she gets her microchip. I asked the lady, just out of curiousoty, when her euthenasia date was... She was scheduled for the very next day. When I got her home, trining strted almost immediately, I wanted to see her level of inteligence & trainability... I quickly realized, this dog is pretty freakin smart and that shes very food driven. After I got her home, it wasnt all cupcakes & butterflies, she was actually a total terror. I left her behind a 4 ft tall puppy gate when I went to work. When I came home, i realized she jumped over it, completely shreadded the carpet infront of the door, pooed & peed every where. The next day, I I put her in a kennel while I went to work and asked a neighbor to check on her... Well... she had enough "kennel life" at the shelter. She tried chewing her way out and removed 3 teeth

I was horrified when I got home. The next day I left her in the back yard, which worked, it was my lt option because there are hawks where I live. After she got adjusted and potty trained, I replaced my flooring... As time went on, she became more & more comfortable with new things and people and became less & less fearful of her new world. I was training her every day at least three 20min sessions a day, and she LOVED it! Before longm she had learned so many things, I had to keep a list.
Things she knows: sit, stay, come, lay down, spin left, spin right, touch my left hand, touch my right hand, speak, whisper, scratch (my back. high, low, left, or right), high five, high ten, "rech to the sky... Bang", touch down (catch a mini football & spike it down), no peeking, you pick (she picks any trick she wants to do but cant repeat any), soldier crawl, take a bow, sad dog, waits until invited inside our outside, shake, roll over
....i think thats it lol
Anyway, I look forward to reading pots, asking question, and answering them!
