Default hello I"m straymagnet

lol hello my name is Ann and I"m "stray magnet" I say that beacuse Strays seem to be attracted to my home for some reason an always have ever since i was a kid. Normaly it was cats.. if a stray was close.. 10 to 1 it would find my house.

Now that I'm a adult that has not changed.. hubby hates it that this happens lol. We currently have 3 stray cats that love my Huge yard and surrounding woods.. and Dont laugh but A CHICKEN!, yup a chicken has wandered to my yard and decided she likes my house and visits daily.. or i should say several times a day,

Well monday was no excption. as a cute dog found our yard an would not go. I woke up 2 days in a row t him sleeping on our porch and wanting to come in. so we decided to let him stay till we found his owners.

I put up a request for help in one of the forums but that was before i saw the NO NO post about asking about breeds. but I just want a "rough" estmate on his breed so I can put it on the FOUND posters.

but he is so cute.. we are enjoying him and possibly Intend on keeping him if a owner dose not step forth by The first of the month.. I"m thinking this is a fair amount of time to deem him "stray and abandon"
I already checked him for a chip. an the vet I took him to gave me a shock as I thought he was 6 months old cause he's 25 pounds, but they say he's more like 12/13 weeks. (well 13/14 weeks now) cause h's been here almost a week..

well I hope to continue to post and enjoy the boards. beacuse if we find his owners im sure we will be soon lookin to adopt a puppy, as everyone In our house (including my not so fond of dogs hubby) has fallen for him, as it's been HIS idea the last 2 nights to let him come in the house as apose to outside lol. well I"ll post more later. it's late and im bushed from chasing kids and a puppy LOL

Cool Welcome to the forum!

Enjoyed reading your post--Made me think of my son and also a friend---Both are 'stray magnets' as you put it. Lol, I think animals/strays just know where to go--to people who will take care of them! Sounds like you are about to have a new addition to your home. Keep us posted 'on things.' Be curious to see this 25 lb. pup when full grown--Does it sound like he is going to be a big dog or what?!

Thanks,, I will keep you all informed, he's been with us almost a week. and he sure is a ball of fun, and I'm starting to think that his family is not lookin for him . I'm going to put up Found posters come next week.. and if that gets me no where.. He's here to stay it looks like, my hubby who is NOT a dog person. and who i thought would truly be against him comming in the house at all.. is the one who suggested he come inside, and when I told the kids "im not sure he's staying, he's a puppy and alot of work" then When I commented to hubby about the other night when he just kept wanting to jump up on my leg and nip at my shirt n tug on it. I turn around and ended the walk to show him it's not accptable. hubby replied with "ohhhh he's just a puppy and wants to play". I thought that would make hubby not want to keep him.

and before the dog my kids would not want to go outside. now they beg to go outside n play with the dog lol..

if his family turns up.. I think I'll have to be searching for a new pup lol. but Im hoping he is here to stay

That's a nice story. It's hard to give even a guess on the breed with him being so young and the one photo you posted. I have a feeling you will be keeping this one since it sounds like it was meant to be. lol

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
