Hello everyone!
Hello everyone, Puppyfrog here to join in your forum and learn about lots of other dogs. I have a cross breed, he's GSD x Border Collie and gorgeous. Beautiful temperament and very well behaved in the house. He's learning to be better behaved when we go out for a walk. I have only had him for a year and he is 7 years old, so it has been slow but steady progress.
As I am middle-aged and have arthritis, he will be my last dog as I may not be able to exercise a dog very well in another 10 years.
I love him to bits!

Maybe you can get a lower energy dog breed in the future? I also have very progressed arthritis (started young) but luckily it doesn't usually interfere with my normal life since I've learned to be in better tune to the limits of what my body can handle. I've no idea how I will feel when I am older but one way or another I have to figure out a way to fit a dog into my lifestyle.
Welcome to the group! Can't wait to see a pic of ur gorgeous guy.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Lower energy is something I could maybe consider, but for now I'm enjoying my boy and hope we have many years to go!
How do I post a picture as my avatar on here, please?

A retired greyhound is very mellow. Couch potatoes. They don't do anything but sleep all day. You would have a calm dog and be saving a dog's life too.

I would happily take on a retired greyhound. I do like them and lurchers, and most of the hound group. At the moment I have 2 cats, and my neighbour has 9! So that situation would have to be considered when introducing a new dog. It is certainly something I would think about. But I have another 5-10 years with Floyd, hopefully.
