Default Hi I'm from the Phils

Hey everyone!

I'm Eric de Jesus and I'm a dog owner from the PH.

My dog's name is Obi-Aki. He's a 1 and a half year old Siberian Husky.
He responds to those two names btw.

I hope to get to know you guys!
Have a nice day!

-Eric

Hello Eric De Jesus & Obi-Aki! Does the name Obi-Aki translate into anything in particular?

Hope you enjoy the forum!

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

His name Obi means "Heart". Since he was a puppy, I've took care of him a lot.

The "Aki" name came from a person that's very dear to me.

Thank you for welcoming me!

Smile Welcome to the Forum!

Hi! I like the meaning you put into naming your dog! Hope you like this forum. Also want to add that I see your birthday is the same as my sister----not the same year though, lol, she was born way back in 1959. I take it that PH means the Philippines. I am from the USA.

Hi there CorkyMax!

Yup I am from the Philippines; The Tropics. Where specific in the US are you located?

Yeap. Aki was given by somebody special. While I wanted Obi because when I bought him, he was a really skinny Husky. I really took time to get him back to shape and bring in a good behavior that everyone will love.

So...he responds to the name Aki, and also to the name Obi.

My mom loves him, my dad loves him, everyone that visits love him, and even the girl that gave him the name "Aki" loves him.

The issue that I'm working on Obi right now is how intense he is when approaching other dogs that either intimidates other dogs or aggravates other dogs; and how he plays with other dogs as if he's still a puppy.
It's still a work in progress but it'll be okay.

I really like this forum. I think I'll be hanging out a lot on the behavioral issues on our site most of the time to help out a bit.

Talking

Hi again! To answer your question--I live in the midwest--in the state of Wisconsin to be exact in a little 'town' called Cobb--about 500 people. Have 2 dogs--Max who is a 12+ Cocker Spaniel and Sami-a female 10ish Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix. She is a rescued stray so have no real age or background. Was very lucky with her as she is a well behaved affectionate girl with a happy 'tail-wagging' personality. Will never know her story and will be forever curious. Talk about your dog sometime--any interesting or funny stories to tell?

Hmm.... to start with, Aki, a.k.a. Obi wasn't the healthiest dog around. When I bought him, he was so thin like he was malnourished.

The doctor diagnosed him with Giardiasis. It's like Amoebiasis. It's a lifetime illness that will spring in when a dog is weak.

I've worked on my Husky for around 3 months just to get him to put up a little weight.

Months later, Obi had a spinal tap because of the fear of Distemper. I became an advocate against Distemper because it killed my first Husky before Obi. I vowed that I wouldn't let it kill another member of my pack.

Fast Forward this day, Obi's doing great. He's very lively. He'll always wake me up at 5:30 in the morning just so we could walk. I didn't remove that behavior because I considered him to be my alarm clock.

He's a dog that has a high energy that lightened up the house. My dad and mom were really happy that we have him. Obi's almost like a grandchild they always wanted me to have.

I don't want to have a kid yet. I'm just 24 years old. A dog is the next best thing.
