Smile Welcome to the Forum!

Hi! You indeed sound like a 100% animal lover! And I confess--I wasn't going to reply because of the pet tarantula but I reconsidered after a few mins.---I shouldn't be so 'biased.' Just because I can't stand the thoughts of a tarantula being anywhere near me has nothing to do with being 'friendly' to it's owner. Sorry, but a dead tarantula is the only kind I would ever be near! I know there are members in this forum who may like them and snakes too but not for me!

I am curious about your family of dogs though. Any stories to tell on how you acquired them--Did you rescue any of them? Is Hershey any relative to Ellie? I have a Cocker Spaniel ---Max (nickname is Paxer)--age 12+ and a rescued Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix that was picked up as a stray so have not much info on her except she is around 10ish and had to have her operated on for mammary cancer 3 days after getting her. She is a happy, smiling, tail wagging sweetie named Sami. Very affectionate--always burrowing into my chest.

Hope you like this forum! Barb (CorkyMax)

I used to have a brazilian salmonhair tarantula. She was the size of a dinner plate. I also had a pink knee tarantula and several other spiders. I wanted a Goliath birdeating tarantula but couldn't find one at the time. My husband is terrified of spiders so I can't get anymore of them. He said if I brought a spider into the house, he was sleeping outside. We now have 2 saint bernards and Mr. Sweaters, and 3 cats and Mr. Grumpy Whiskers, and we have an engineer goby (Goby Wan Kanobi) and a sailfin tang (Freckles) and a pair of clownfish (Nemo and Elmo) our little person named those for us, and we have a cherub Angelfish named Michael and a bluehead wrasse who remains nameless because I hate him. He's killed every other wrasse we had int here and I can't catch him.

Smile family pets--more like children lol

Well thank you so much for the replys. To answer the question about the dogs, yes Ellie and Hershey are related. I acquired Ellie when I dropped off my friend at her moms house and invited me in to see the puppies for fun. I noticed the runt was crying a little and looking a lil weak. She was litterally 50% smaller than the other 5. I asked what are you going to do with the runt to help her? My friends mother replied, "nothing, just wait till she passes." MY HEART DROPPED and my mother instinct turned on. I took her little 8 hour old tiny body home and she became my 2nd daughter LOL. NO REALLY, she responds when i say "daughter...inside". Four months later when I returned, I noticed Ellie's mom (Hershey) Tied up outside with a really short chain , no shade, no grass, dirty water and YES chocolate cake with table scrapes. Sure she had a small flea infeast green dog house BUT I WAS BEYOND LIVID!!!!!!!! Her tooth had been kicked and broken by her 12 yr old years ago, colar a bit too tight and eyes that downloaded so many bad memories when you looked at her. I said I am so sorry to tell you this because you are my friends mother BUT i will give you 2 choices. ONE you can let me use your phone to call in for animal cruelty OR you let me keep her. She said i would LOVE for you to keep her but she is bad, escapes, and isnt worth keeping but she lets us know when bobcats are around. With God on my side, I am now a proud owner for almost two years of a warm, kind hearted, non escaping, eager to love pit mix named HERSHEY that loves not being tied up . I rescued Lil bit from going to a shelter and all 3 dogs are fixed.

That is a sad story--How can people be so cruel--But a happy ending, at least for Ellie and Hershey. I can't help wondering what became of the rest of the siblings--I hope they got adopted by other dog lovers. That mother of your friend sure sounds like a real winner! That poor Hershey must of been pregnant a lot of the time--to think she must of been 9 when she had that last litter. And I applaud you for giving that 'idiot' the two options you did!! Thank you so much for rescuing all 3 of your 'babies!' I knew right away that you were a good dog 'mommy.' (I am a dog lover too--and would choose them over most humans any day.)

Default Ellie's Sibbling :) :(

Well 3 of Hersheys puppies went to a home just a few blocks from Hersheys old home. They wanted to try to teach them to help how to be guide dogs. Or so they said. That didnt work out as they wanted! For about a year they were very happy dogs then i got report that for NO reason they became aggressive. Is it just me or does it seem that part of that story is missing Sadly one got ran over chasing cars. Cough..cough....ummmmm and why were they let out front without supervision constantly??? oh and with NO LEASH!! Sure it was a little country like setting but still. ERRRR!! personally i think they had the "aww these puppies are so adorable" syndrome. Happy to say that the other ones went to a very loving family with children and last i knew were spoiled rotten like Ellie ROFL. Personally I think Ellie misses the homemade puppy formula i used to make her!! --goats milk, kyro syrup, plain yogurt and crushed puppy vitamins. Until today she has a very nice build but can eat like there is no tomorrow. Am i a little jealous UMMM 100% yes
