Tic
hello all,
I am new here and joined because I want some opinions on my parent's dog.
They just had to put her down last Monday and the entire family took it really really hard. We are in Michigan but about 6 years ago My parents lived in North Carolina for about 1 year. They lived right on the edge of the smokey mountains. Very country, and Tic (their dog) kept coming around the house but wouldn't come near my dad. He had been feeding her but she wouldnt come near him. Eventually she came to him and she was covered head to toe with Ticks. (That's why he called her Tic)He pulled them out one at a time and nurtured her back to health and she has been with him ever since. She had very light blue eyes almost white and my dad soon realized she was partially blind. We finally got to meet her when my parents moved back to Michigan. She was the sweetest, most caring dog ever. We couldnt figure out what she was andneither could the vet. Last week she suddenly became very ill, so they took her in and it was her liver. They said there wasn't anything they could do, so was in bad shape. So very unexpectedly they had to put her down. The news devastated my whole family and we still just cannot stand the thought that she is gone. My parents have a hard time just walking into their house.
anyway, sorry to be a debby downer and go on & on. Just still greiving the loss. But the last few days I have been trying to really try to figure out what she was. She was probabaly a mix, but I am so curious to know with what she was mixed. She was mid-sized, her color pattern resembled a german shepard but her tan color was orangish.
Can any of you be so kind to maybe make some suggestions as to what she might have been? I have attached some pictures...nevermind it won't let me upload my pictures.
thanks so much.

I am sorry about your loss. Tic sounds a very special dog.
Have you followed the instructions and uploaded the pics to Photobucket?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Hello everybody I'm new here and just wanted to say hello.
To missyoutic, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how attached you become. I don't currently have a furry friend. I decided I would jump in here to remind myself what it's like to be one of the haves instead of one of the have nots.
I've been without my best friend for quite a while now and I still can cry at the drop of a hat. His name is Anthony and he was a beautiful all black cat. I had him for 15 years and adopted him from a family that was going to put him down because they had a new baby and were paranoid about the old myth about cats and babies. (Look how many years he would have been cheated out of, I'm grateful to have had him for that long. He actually was a few years older, his actual age was unknown).
I hope no one minds me popping in here, I've been thinking about a new friend and I just happened to check in here first, I've had both cats and dogs since I was a child.
I treasure those years with my Anthony and like you, I miss him very much. I had my Anthony cremated when I had to finally let him go and that gives me a little feeling that he is still with me in some way.
Sorry I can't help you out with what her background might be, I wish you well.
D.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Liver issues often don't show any symptoms until there is a lot of damage. My nearly 15 year old Border Collie X has high liver enzymes which was discovered during one of those wellness blood tests. Otherwise, we never would have known there was anything wrong. It is being controlled by medication but, we were just lucky that her annual check-up was due when it was or we may have been in exactly the same situation.
