Hi from Jenn and Luke!!
Hello there, and thanks for having me. I'm Jenn, and Luke is my 2 year old, Great Dane. We're in New Brunswick, Canada. I've been obsessed with the breed, and dogs in general, since before I could walk. After years of researching them I finally had my dream come true, when Luke came into my life.
I enjoy getting to know dog owners and enthusiasts from all walks of life, all around the world, from fellow dane owners to those who love and own many other breeds/mixes. Some of you will probably recognize me from other sites. I have a tendency of getting bored with the "same old" in forums so I like to try new ones lol. I'm hoping this will be a forum where a new member can jump right in and feel at home and help to educate those who may be interested in the breed, or just share in the love of dogs. I look forward to getting to know everyone and possibly making even more great dog owner friends.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Welcome to the forum!!
Big hugs to Luke and I do mean big!!
The first Great Dane that I had the honor of meeting was at a dog park in St. John's, Newfoundland. He only had 3 legs, but I can't remember what his owner told us had happened. Anyways, what a gorgeous dog, absolutely stunning. This is one breed that I have always enjoyed.
Have fun at this forum, and hope you get "bored" here.

Welcome to the Forum!
You are going to laugh when you hear this but do take a look with this in mind---I wasn't exactly sure what the pic was in your avatar --- I thought it looked like a guy with a hat on and a gun in his hand with a dog--- a 'law man' (the hat)--thin guy like a cartoon figure! But, lol, I finally 'got it!' Lol, I thought it was a strange picture the way I 1st saw it.
Hope you like this forum! I'm a Golden Retriever and Cocker Spaniel person/owner but love all dogs. Not too many Great Dane owners here I think--Will enjoy hearing more about yours.
Being as you have researched on this breed, you prob. know about their tendency to bloat---And to avoid exercise after meals. And if you don't know a whole lot about bloat--- BLOAT in DOGS

LOL Thanks for the warm welcome.
And yes, I have definitely done my research on bloat. It's the number one killer of my breed so it's always at the back of a GD owner's mind, but thank you for the link and info.
