Cool The name's Paws

Hello! My name is Paws! Unfortunately my mums keyboard is a bit nuts and the S doesn't always work so imagine the S if it randomly goes missing! I'm a three year old Patterdale terrier and I love to play! I also love to lay on my mummy because she's so soft and gives me lot of hug and lets me kiss her all the time! Even when she's busy! Like now, she was busy playing with her human things and I wanted to kiss her paws so I did and she let me. She's a very kissed mummy! She's my second mummy though, my first mummy was a lot older with grey hair, she didn't like to play as much or go on as long walks and I was limited to how much I could run, then my first daddy had heart problems and I was even more cooped in. I didn't like that, but then ome people came and took me for a ride in a car...I like car rides, and they brought me to my new mummy...then left, which was very scary, but my mummy looked after me and hugged me and loved me and I soon came around.

I used to be scared of the rain, so my mummy made me a coat and now I can play out in the rain as much as I want, and if I do get wet, my mummy towel dries me before she let's me run into the comfy room and curl up on my chair.

Mummy is called Angel and she's a huge 24 year old! I'm surprised he plays so much! But we go for a three mile walk every morning where we play lots of games and she even races up stairs! She used to win, but now I win every time! I'm so fast! My best friend confuses me, he smells like a dog, but he's only a little smaller than the ponies my mummy is introducing me to! I can run faster than him too! I have lots of friend, although no brothers or sisters anymore. I miss them, but we did find a lost poodle once and mummy brought him home, he was really fun, but I didn't like it after a while and although he told me how much fun he had running away, I was glad when mummy gave him back to his daddy. I don't think I want to share my mummy yet. I did listen to my friends advice though and have run away several times! I think he was lying though when he told me how much fun it is because all that's happened is my mummy has stopped taking me off lead and has decided to "train me properly" whatever that means....But I now sit and wait for my food instead of eating as she's feeding me...maybe that's what it means...mmmm food....mummy had pizza and didn't hare with me tonight, but she's going to take me out for a mile walk in a bit!

Mummys going to try and put my picture in her "avatar" in a bit...dunno what that is, but she says then I can show my coat off to you. I love my coat...oh and you'll see me too!

Oh my mummies name is Angel, but I call her mummy! I have a daddy too, but I like mummy best!

Welcome:
Enjoy your time here. Love Paws rain coat. If my guys wore one, it would probably be a Hefty bag. LOL.
Take care.

Thank you for the welcome, it's not really that belated as I signed up quite late at night one night then left it a day or so before making this thread, also quite late at night :P

Thank you, I designed and knit his coat myself. It's got little pawprints where the tummy strap connect to the main body at both sides. There are some lovely coats out there for large dogs and for small dogs. The problem is, as I noticed today, Paws is an unusual size. He' a whole head bigger than most other patterdales we meet and quite a bit stockier than them too putting him firmly in the "If it fits on the chest the back trails on the floor and if it fits the back, there's no way I can get it around his chest" catagory :P

I love your intro. I've always thought it would be so cute to have little diaries on the forum for our dogs to express themselves through us or brag or just talk about their day-whatever. I'd think it would be fun anyway!!

Enjoy the forum! BTW Oh I loved the last line in you're intro LOL Sad & true for probably most of us. I don't know why it's usually us ladies who dominate this place as well..hmm more female dog lovers in the world?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

I keep a blog of our adventures together, I don't always have the chance to post in it daily, but it's the nearest thing I do. I wouldn't like to write as Paws everyday, he's far too excitable and the short basic sentance structure and jumpyness from one subject to another would drive me inane after a bit, but that's how he thinks and thus should be how he writes.

With us, Chris is NOT a dog person. He let me get one because our cat passed away and I wa incredibly depressed and lonely, I'm a housewife and he works 12 hour shifts. So he said I could have another pet and I wanted a dog, so he consented. He'd much rather have no pets at all, but I've never not had a pet and he understands this. So Paws was brought over and while he does love him...he's still not a dog person. He walks him in the evening now and then, but I'm the primary care giver. Maybe that's similar in most households, the woman is the primary caregiver? Genetically speaking females are more inclined to take on that role while men tend to lean more towards disciplin (at least using my parents as an example) and thus the dogs listen to them, but prefer the company of the women, and also why women are more inclined to come online and chat about them. We like chatting, we love to gush over our babies and that's what these forums seem to be all about...

LOL You reminded me of me! So true on your take of things. Well put!!

I'm sorry you lost your cat. I'm glad you were able to add Paws to your home. The furry kids really do brighten up our homes don't they. Maybe one day your hubby will become a little more of the dog lover over time. I WISH my hubby would walk the dogs occasionally. lol Mine gets irked when he see's freshly dug trenches in the yard..although I can't blame him. He wants a nice yard, & so do I, but I much prefer having my dogs then a nice yard or clean floors or long family vacations. In the end though, they are primarily my dogs as well. My husband loves them too but it was always me who wanted them and raise them.

The roles we play probably do make the biggest difference. Although in our house the exception would be discipline, we both do it with the 2 legged and 4. I probably even tip the scale towards me w/that.

I'm glad you joined! I hope you jump in everywhere.

I agree, I feel most of the time it is the women who are primarily the ones who look after the kids and animals in the house.
Being married to a military man, I've had to be both the mom and the dad to our kids, as he was away a lot when they were growing up.
Everyone in the house loves the dogs, but I do it all. Walking, feeding, grooming, etc and would'nt have it any other way. I love being with them, it's like they are my stress relievers. I'll sit on the back deck and watch them race around the backyard, or just sit on the floor with one on each side of me. Love them

Love that, Dogs RUle. It's funny, even when I'm like, "Hey, what are you doing?!? Don't dig. Stop messing with him. Stop pooping by the stairs!" Ect...It still doesn't stress me when they get on my nerves. The only time I get negatively stressed with them is when it has to do with other people or other people dogs. Other than that the dogs & the dog chores bring me down & center me in a more peaceful way (stress wise).

ALTHOUGH I still think it would be nice in multiple ways for hubby to walk the dogs sometimes. And if Kuma wouldn't mat so often... Mats stress me out lol

Hmmmm, I must be lucky or be married to a rare man. My Hubby loves dogs as much as I do. He helps feed, bathes them, cleans up after them, helps and enjoys walking them. Its nice because we can take them with us alot because we both can take one each. I do most of the trainning with Hunter, but thats because I have weekends open more for classes. When Im in class he brings Nina and takes her for a walk at the same parks we train at. He cooks too, LOL hes a great cook and loves to try new recipes. I guess Id have to say Im lucky.
Welcome Paws and Mommy too!
