Hey! Im Haylee, and I obviously love dogs. Im from Kansas am 17 and in high school, and my service dog Koda Bear tags along and does his work everyday while im at school. I have a lot of pets, and kept pretty busy. I have 5 dogs, a cat (Libby), a horse(Cody), a snake(Coral), a bearded dragon(Kricket), and 11 sugar gliders (my mom and I run a rescue.)
Well... Guess you guys wanna meet my doggies...
First we have my pride and joy
Koda Bear: (Friend Bear)
Bear is a black and white Lab and Border Collie cross that I rescued a little over a year ago from the shelter. He was found on the side of the road in Kansas City after being thrown out of a car. He was scared, and lonely. He is one of the smartest dogs I have ever owned. Soon after adopting him we found out I had a seizure problem, and after only 4 months had passed his CGC test, and is now a full service dog. (my mom is a certified service dog trainer.) I show Bear in Rally-O and Agility.
Next we have my moms old man
Comet:
Comet was the first service dog my mom trained about 10 years ago. He is an 11 year old Sable Shetland Sheepdog, and is a hero all the way. He was originally trained as a seizure alert dog, but about 5 years ago, saved my moms life in a new way. She was not feeling very good, but was going to go to work anyway... Comet knew something was wrong, and refused to let her eat. He blocked her way to the kitchen, and was being a real annoyence. So she left and went to work without eating. She came home early that day, because she still wasnt doing well, and sat on the couch, and sent me and my brothers up stairs. Soon after, Comet bolted up the stairs and barked at my door repeatedly, so I came on out and followed him down to my mom who was passed out on the couch. He then began to dig under the couch, so I reached under, and grabbed the phone. My mom had already dialed 911 but passed out and dropped it before she could call it. When my mom got to the hospital, her blood sugar was so high, she was almost in a coma. If it werent for comet my mom would have died. He has done many things like that since, allerting to not only my mom, but complete strangers as well. He even saved a man from a stroke.
Sadly comet has been given a year to retire for health reasons, but has just gotten his TDI, so he will get to continue to work on his terms.
Next is my little rat,
Toby: Toby is a puppy mill rescue. He is a 6 year old Maltese Shih-Tzu cross, and cute as a button. He is actually a pretty smart dog, he's just spunky. He has seperation anxiety really bad tho, and im trying to work it out of him. Toby is the smallest dog in the house, but is definatly the ring leader. He is always causing some sort of trouble. He's a problem child, but I love him.
Now to miss priss... AKA
Cassie
Cass is my moms baby. I bought her as a birthday gift for my mom, after the vets told her Comet had to retire. She is a beautiful 11 month old Sable Rough Collie. She has one blue eye, and one hazle.(super light brown) She is a very clever dog, and is doing remarkably well in her training. She is already alerting, and doing everything darn near perfect. She's a tad bit lanky (needs to grow into herself for sure.) She is the queen B in the house, because she is the only female of the 5 dogs, and she knows she is pretty.
And our newest member of the pack:
Bruce
We adopted Bruce from the humane society yesterday. He is a 5 month old almost solid black Great Dane(possibly a mix) puppy. He is already as tall as the collie pup, and is brilliant. I already have this dog healing amazingly, sitting, and laying down. He is my new 4-H partner, and thats all I can really say so far. Boy is he cute tho. My boyfriend is in love with him.
And, I should mention my old irl Shayla. She was with me 13 years. She was my best friend. Shayla was my dalmation that I had had since I was 2 years old, and she passed a little over 2 years ago. She had cancer, and eventually got dementia, and the only thing I could do for her was to end her suffering. I loved that old dog. She was a saint. R.I.P old girl.
Well, thats me and my pack of crazies. Im more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Sadly Im a new member, and cant post pics yet, but I will as soon as possible. I really want to see if anyone thinks my new pup is a pure great dane, or a mix of some sort... im haveing a hard time telling. I know he's at half dane for sure tho.
Thanks for reading my novel, and have a great day.
