Hi!
Hello, good to be here!
I was lurking around a bit, and have a question or two about my dogs, but befroe I went straight to that, I thought I'd introduce myself, and my pack.
Lemme see...
We have 4 dogs:
- Mitzy, a 12 year old... well, she's at least part spaniel, I think. 60lbs, and our smallest dog. Also the alpha.
- Jessie, a 14 year old... again, sort of unclear, but we're told he's a good bit Belgian Shepherd, and something long-haired and fluffy.
- Sasha, a 10 year old husky-ish sort of dog (complete with mistmatched eyes, howling, and shedding!)
- and Sully, a 4 year old pure bred bull mastiff (with a nerve problem we've recetly learned is going to cause his hind legs to stop working before the year is out. Supposed to be completelly painless for him, though, so we're just keeping him away from stairs these days.)
So, all in, something around 350lbs of dog!
The first 3 we got from the SPCA at various times, the last we got from someone who was moving into a place that wouldn't allow dogs. We live on a farm, so running room is no issue for us!
So that's them. Yep.

Wanna trade? My dogs total just over 500 lbs. They do know how to keep my toes warm though.

Hmmm, tempting, but I think I'll have to pass! lol I think we have exactly the correct amount of canine in our home for now.... until Ma sees another sad looking old dog on the SPCA adoption feature on the news at noon, in which case we'll suddenly need another out of the blue.

Where is it you live that you have a News at Noon? We get that paper everyday at 12:30 pm.

Hey Luna! I get news at noon--a local area tv program.
I don't get the Spca feature but they feature a pet (including cats, rabbits, etc. including mostly dogs from the local humane society (being Madison, WI) that is up for adoption---Think it is a weekly thing but it might be more often then that. Was (am) hoping a feature like this was done everywhere! If not--too bad as it is a good way for a dog (animal) to get seen and adopted!

I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada, on a farm a few miles outside of the city.
And it's very much like what CorkyMax describes: News at noon basically being the 12:00 noon local station news broadcast. And also like CorkyMax mentions, there's a weekly feature where the public rep from the humane society brings a dog or cat that is available for adoption onto the show to try and generate some interest.
As for having time for all our pets? I simply don't do it alone! lol 6 of us live out here, and the dogs get along and play with each other (plus, they're a bunch of crotchety old seniors who enjoy frequent naps anyhow) so it's actually pretty easy to manage. They're all companions, as opposed to working dogs, too, so their lives can be fairly relaxed.
