Hi New Here and Joy
is my baby - She is a 10 almost 11 week old Pure Bred German Shepherd and is too smart for her own brain atm! LOL! The breeder was silly to let her come to me at 5 weeks - so, as you can imagine, I have been a puppy sibling to her.
I have never owned a dog before, so it is a very trying time for me. I have had a trainer out, and that was worked great - for a few things she gets up to. The bonding process has been great - but maybe too extreme.
The leadership has been hard to get under control, but my 'BAH' and then 'good girl' when positive behaviour shown, seems to be working
Anyways, any feedback would be great and thanks to all that will be by my side
Deb (aka joy) thinking I might have intended sarcasm when I named her! Nahhhhh the best is yet to come I know xxxx

Bad breeder! I would have run away from that one.
Good luck with Joy. Puppies aren't easy but who can resist them??? Hope to see some pics of her. Enjoy the forum.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Yeah I agree - I was naive
Well, my partner was - he was the one that got her. Maybe they were broke needed $$$ for the other pups, re immunisation to let the others go at the right age - who knows?
Well, I now know what it feels to be a pup in a litter - LOL - great learning curve (NOT NEEDED) lol
Getting the Pack leader sorted (I think :???
will take a bit longer - but patience is a virtue

Definitely on both! I know I have been helped so many times on the forum. 50 heads are better than one and with the info and help on this forum it's limitless. We all have different things to help & contribute with. Plus it;s nice to share our little victories or sorrows. It's all what you make it. Sometimes it gets a little too quite in here so I personally love seeing new members really jumping in. And if you haven't checked out the search function, enjoy!! lol Theres so much interesting stuff to learn from old posts & members too.

There;s a "User CP" link on the blue bar that's located towards the top of the page. That's where you can tinker with all your profile stuff.

A person with any morals wouldn't take a living being away from it's mother before it's time in order to get cash. That was a bad breeder plain and simple. People like that generally sell the pups at an early age and then dry the mom out so they can breed her again next cycle. Poor dog. And people that keep buying the pups before it's time for them to leave the mother is only contributing to the problem. When a puppy is taken from the mother and siblings too soon, they don't learn the things they need to, like bite inhibition and how rough is too rough and they normally end up at the shelter as a "bad dog" when in reality it was a bad breeder.
