Hello from Canada eh!
I've enjoyed reading this forum, (guilty of lurking), and thought I'd finally join in. Hello from Canada I love all animals, but have a very soft spot for Golden Retrievers... they are special dogs to me! I currently own one very large, goofy, happy Golden named Otis, and lost my ol' girl last July she was 13 years old- still feeling that pain (not sure it ever goes away!)....anyways... Greetings

LOL unfortunately no... I live southern, small town Ontario. The people who own moose and live in igloos are up North in the territories

We have saint bernards. They are as close to a moose as we can own in the US. Hello, hello to your Golden's.

Welcome to the Forum!
Goldens are my favorite breed too, although I prefer them mixed with Cocker Spaniels as makes for a little smaller dog. I have a female of that mix right now--Sami. And my Corky was that combination also and I know what you mean about losing a dog as I lost Corky a year ago last June (June 10, 2010) and I'll never stop thinking about him. You can see pics of my dogs in my albums on my profile page. Max is my other dog there--a pure cocker. I also would love to see pics of your Otis and your passed Golden girl too. Hey, hope you keep enjoying the forum!
Whoops! I see you have posted some pics while I was posting---Lol, now I'll have to go back and see the pics. Thanks for posting them!

I strongly disagree. I think saint bernards are the loveliest breeds. How can anyone resist Buster?

I just watched the movie "Hachi" a few weeks ago...that Akita was adorable, they look like little fox/bear puppies!!!
I also like St.Bernard's a lot.. my favourite movie when I was a kid was Beethoven - I had a stuffed animal of him that I carried around EVERYWHERE! When my big boy Otis was a pup, I was asked more than once if he had some St.Bernard in him.... I thought it was hilarious!

I must admit Buster is adorable even if he is a big goofball lol but I love how Akita's have a face that looks like a miniture version of a bear especially when they're puppies.

Oh boo! your pups are beautiful! I have heard of that, a new(ish) designer breed, of the golden and cocker, I think they call them 'comfort goldens' here! I've never met one personally, but look very cute! I personally like my goldens on the bigger side, Otis is an english-style of golden, and he's big, with a huge noggin (to hold all his brains of course, since he's so smart ), I like big mutts and I cannot lie!

Beautiful photos. I love Goldens too. My husband always wanted one and although we had two Jack Russells when we had the opportunity to rescue one he jumped at the chance. However, no one told her that she was going to be his dog and she and our son who was 2 at the time decided they belonged to each other! She was a fantastic dog. I can't imagine life without a Jack Russell but if there was chance to bring a Golden into our house I would do it straight away.
Molly reminds me so much of Judy and Otis is just gorgeous.

Didn't know of that combination was a thing they were doing with designer dogs now!! Mine--at least Corky was an 'accident!' that I had nothing to do with--BUT I am sure glad I had him! Sami--was a stray that I rescued about 6 months after Corky's passing. I believe Corky led me to getting her too!
I like big dogs too but I am not able to handle large breeds that well--older with a 'slipped vertebra.' If I were younger, etc----I would have the true breed---Goldens ---but I would still want at least one combination! Good thing there is a restriction as to only having 2 dogs here or I'd prob have way more then I could handle!!

I can always tell a person's age by whether they walk up and address my dog as either "Cujo" or "Beethoven".

I'm sorry for the loss of your girl. I think it's very touching that you still included her photo, It should always be like that.
Welcome to the forum, eh!

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody! Yes, we lost her at the end of July and it still seems like yesterday. I am thinking about telling her "story" on the pet memory page, and I'll post some more pictures of her. She was my first dog I had ever had (I was 11 when I got her), so it's always the hardest.

They actually used Shiba Inu puppies to play him as the puppy version which are very close cousins to the Akita.
