Default Greetings!

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this site. I haven't looked through all of it yet, but thought I would go ahead and introduce myself and say "hello" to everyone out there!

I am a single mother of three wonderful daughters, ages 12, 9 and 7. We JUST got an 8 month old puppy. 1/2 Australian Shepherd and 1/2 German Shepherd. She is absolutely fantastic! I grew up with GSD so I knew that I was already HALF sold...I've never had an Aussie, but from what I've been reading, I think I really have a good combination.

She is definitely a teenager, but has a very mild temperament. She obviously received some training in her previous home, b/c she knows how to "Sit" and clearly understands "Come". I'm trying to teach her to "Stay" but she can't sit still long enough for me to even reward her for ONE SECOND!!!! hahahahah.... I need some help in the training department. I really believe that a trained dog is a happy dog and we really want her to be an inside dog and part of our family.

Her name is Star and she really is the STAR of our family!

Looking forward to meeting some of you out there. Any Aussie/GSD experts out there, please feel free to email me directly and give me some pointers!!!

Thanks!

Well, I am no expert but I know aussies are VERY smart dogs. When I was young I used to have a shepherd collie. No one specified her background but she was short. I think perhaps she was either part aussie or border collie. I think you have a very good mix. Because of the herding dog background she may even have a tendency to herd your children! *L*
