Hello everyone! I'm new to the forums....just signed up the other day. I have 2 dogs:

Skylar - 2.5 year old female Lab/Spaniel mix
Dade - 4 month old male Beagle

I got Skylar from the local Humane Society when she was only 8 weeks old. We've had so much fun together. I have recently had to give away my guinea pigs (that Skylar thought were her babies), so to make it up to her I got her a new baby brother to keep her company. So far they are getting along fairly well. I just got Dade last week from a breeder. I had my heart set on a Beagle because they are just so adorable and lovable and friendly. I was going to adopt this one, but a family got to it before I had a chance to. That's when I found an ad in the paper for Dade. I couldn't be happier that I got him. He is just such a wonderful addition to the family.

I look forward to talking with you all about dogs and hopefully will learn some new things. Skylar was my very first dog ever, so I'm still learning.

It sounds like you have a happy family! WHen I was a kid we had a dog who looked after our guinea pigs. She was trustable probably since she was a herding dog. There are plenty of dogs that I wouldn't trust to do the same (dogs especially bred for hunting small animals--NOT!)
