| Siberian Husky Owner
Hi, we are new here, and found this forum by sheer luck. I have a young Siberian Husky (red and white with ice blue eyes), which I adopted from a rescue group in 2005. So, we don't know my dog's exact age.
My dog's name is Ranger, and he is sooo beautiful, it is incredibly hard to believe that he was up for adoption. Although he is very, very high maintenance, we love him so much and couldn't imagine life without him.
Ranger is my second Siberian. My first boy died in early 2005 at the age of 12 years and 9 months. So, I guess that you could say that I am an experienced Siberian owner.
I do love all dogs (having had greyhounds and spaniels growing up), but I would especially love to hear from other Husky owners.
Bye for now, Ranger and his mom.

Hi Ranger
I have just found this site and I also own Siberians, 6 of them, their ages range from 9months to 14years. 4 are red and white and the other 2 are silver. I regularly show two of them, one a ten year old was imported from the US 8 years ago, he is a us champion and a uk champion. The other one I show is his great great grand daughter. I also enjoy working the dogs in harness.

| Hi to Susan!
Hi Susan, it was great to hear from another Husky owner. I would be very interested in hearing about your show activities and the other things that you do with your dogs.
As we have only had Ranger since 2005, and he was a young dog when we adopted him from a rescue group, we have been working (with a certified trainer) on some behavioral issues, such as food aggression, hoarding, etc. With training and consistent re-inforcement here at home, we are (hopefully) past these issues. As Ranger is a rescue, we don't have papers for him, but I noticed that the AKC has a way around this lack of paper!
We have just started doing agility with Ranger. His trainer has two Siberians of her own, and she is extremely well qualified to be teaching agility to these dogs.
I am also contemplating the purchase of a springer for our bikes. Have you ever used this? My dog definitely would like to be running on a regular basis, and it is probably the best way for him to get what he needs.
I hope that you will continue to post about your activities with your Siberians. I am sure that there are many other Husky owner (besides me) who could learn a lot from you. Do you have a web site?
Bye for now,
Ranger's mom.

Hi Ranger
I have a fair bit of experience in the breed, I have been showing since the early eighties and bought my first Sibe in 1990. I am married to a vet and have myself worked in Veterinary surgeries for 23 years. I judge Siberians at championship level and other breeds within the working group at open show level. I was involved in the set up of the Scottish Siberian husky club and was on committee up until recently. I prefer to think of myself as experienced and not an expert as living with Sibes, they teach you something new every day and I'm always willing to learn.
I enjoy working the dogs in harness but don't do it competitively (I'm not fit enough) I prefer the stress free training runs. I usually run a 2 dog team but have known to feel brave enough to go up to 4. In the UK, we are not blessed with long trails so the races over here are normally run over 2-5 miles.
I often train using a bike but don't like the idea of the springer as it attaches to the side of the bike, I usually attach a 2 dog line to the front below the handlebars and have the dogs running in front of me.
I do not have my own website but I have pages on the Scottish Siberian Husky club website. Here is a link to my pages http://www.scottishshc.org.uk/pages/...i/lasinski.htm
I do not have any pictures of my youngest "Loona" on the site yet but you will find pictures of her on the main Scottish Siberian Husky Club website as she won best puppy in show at the recent club show.
Her registered name is Erifdere Silver Arrow of Lasinski Her father was imported from the Lara-Ke Kennel in Alaska where he had run in the Iditarod.

Here is the Link to the Scottish Siberian Husky Club website. http://www.scottishshc.org.uk/pages/home.htm
Loona can be seen on the home page and the events show results page.
A lot of the Sibes in the UK are a bit different from the dogs in the US so you might find some of the other members pages quite interesting.
Looking forward to hear what you think.

| Hello again, Susan
Susan, the sites are fabulous, and the dogs are all beautiful! I was especially drawn to Koolik, as this dog bears a very strong resemblance to my first Siberian, Woodrow, and Imber looks a lot like our newest rescued Siberian, Ranger. I love all Siberian Huskies, but always find myself drawn to the red (sable) and white dogs.
I have sent the links for the web sites to my dog trainer, Allison. She owns three dogs, and two of them are Siberian Huskies. She will also find the sites very interesting.
Thank you for sharing the photos. (I don't think that I could ever think of breeding my dogs, because I simply would not be able to part with any of the puppies. They are all so beautiful.)
Bye for now,
Janet and Ranger.

Hi Janet
Koolik is the clown of the pack, he's 5 now and still thinks he's a big puppy. He only has one fully decended testicle so doesn't get shown but he is good in harness.
Imber is 11 and is still a bit of a nutter. Imber injured a hind leg in the garden when she was a puppy so in my opinion didn't move sound enough in the show ring, saying that she did get a second placing at crufts when she was a puppy. She is still a keen worker.
Beanie didn't come to me till he was 5 so is not as keen in working as the others. He has had a very successful show career and is still winning at the agew of 10. He has produced 6 champions so far and has many more winning offspring despite having had relatively few litters.
Inga is the oldest at 14, she was never one for working, started well and finished well but it was the bit inbetween that was the problem....she liked to take in the scenery  Inga loved showing and would try to drag me into the ring.
Yoola, unlike her mum, didn't like showing so she was retired young, she prefers running in harness.
Loona is the baby at 9 months, she is doing well so far in the showring and has started short training runs in harness.
Here is a link to an other site you may find interesting, it is UK champions http://www.siberianchamps.org.uk/
I would be interested to see some pictures of Ranger and Woodrow.

| SHR Newsletter
Hi Susan, here is the link for the newsletter which is produced by Siberian Husky Rescue here in Florida. I do volunteer work for them, and this is the rescue group from which I got my newest Siberian Husky, Ranger: http://www.siberrescue.com/newsletter.htm
If you go to the site, and click on 1st Quarter 2006 eNewsletter, and go to page 5 of 7, you will see a photo in the right column. It says, "Curliest Husky Tail, Ranger". This was taken at our Siberian Husky Olympics. This is an annual rescue event which takes place in February here in Florida. The photo is of Ranger with me and my husband.
(I am not sure how to post links to other photos from here, so I may need some help from my other family members when they come home. My daughter has a digital camera, and she is always posting her photos on one site or another.)
Bye for now,
Janet and Ranger.

Hi Janet
I enjoyed looking at the rescue site, Ranger is like Imber.
I was involved in Scottish Siberian Husky club welfare for many years so it is a subject close to my heart.
