Default Dry dog food or home cooked?

I have been told to keep consistant with what you feed your dog. But I feel bad if I just feed my dog dry dog food all the time. So from time to time I would cook my dog a home cooked meal. I am just curious, if any one out there is also cooking for their dogs.

I had an awful time when I fed my dog dry kibble.
It's not something I really ever used and have cared for dogs for nearly 30 years.
It used to be a case that you fed either tinned food or tripe (if you can stand the smell) and a biscuit, but getting your hands on the stuff can be more difficult these days.

The kibble made my dog irritable and anxious. I then moved him onto a pure meat diet, which was raw and specially prepared for dogs. This worked for a time but then he started to lose weight.

Believe it or not, he is now eating goat mix! It comes prepared and has flaked wheat, oats, maize, a few other cereals and molasses. His weight is stable, his attitude good and everybody seems happy!
