Default Cat tricks? Never Heard of them til Now!

Sorry if there is another place for this, but I couldn't find any forum to do with cats, so here it is in the off topic section.

I was looking up some stuff for dog tricks, because I think it is so cool when dogs can do stuff like that, and I stumbled across this site that talks about cat tricks. I looked into it a little further, and apparently, they can learn stuff like roll over and play dead. I thought that was pretty sweet. What are your guys thoughts on this?

YES! You can teach your cat tricks. I used to train therapy cats, and they can come when called, sit, lay down, get down, and move out of your way on command. They also have agility contests for cats and a lot of cats do really well. Most people don't know cats can learn how to these things because they never bother to teach them.

Smile commands

I have 3 cats. 2 of my cats know a couple commands like come here and get down and knock it off(crying) when the female is in heat. and last of all stop it.(when scratching where they are not suppose to.

Hm. That is pretty cool. I knew they did cat shows and such, but I have just heard so many people say that cats don't listen to you, and they are too independent to learn tricks.

Our neighbor has this very intelligent cat and he can do/obey some commands and tricks, yet we have to keep distance for even my dog loves him, he truly hates my dog...

I've never tried to teach my evil twins (my 2 black cats!) any tricks, but when I feed them, Pippin is always fed on the right, and Pixie-Bell is always fed on the left. When I go to put their food down they jockey into position and get quite agitated if the other is in "her" place! I suppose this is kind of a trick?

My cat knows one trick- come. The command I use is "Kitty, pounce?" (the treats! )Also she will come if I call out "Kitty, food?" and proceed to open a can of wet food loudly. Other than that, she just gives me disapproving looks. I would love to have a trainable cat though. I truly enjoy teaching my dog new tricks. Training a cat would be fun!

Default Sigh...

My cat Holly's "tricks" begin and end with emptying the food bowl and filling up the litter box!
