The dubious advantages of living out of boxes.
As some of you may know, I am in the process of moving. Currently, I'm waiting for a one bedroom apartment to become available in my building that meets with my and the girls approval. In the mean time, I had the not-so-scathingly-brilliant idea of packing up all the stuff that I didn't deem essential to our everyday lives. I now know that the road to hell is truly paved with good intentions.
What this means for someone who is as disorganized as I am to begin with is that now, instead of not knowing where most things are, I don't know where anything is. Bailey is a veteran of a couple of moves so, she takes everything in stride as long as nothing of hers ends up in a sealed box. Lara, on the other hand, finds the whole situation terribly exciting and spends a lot of her time doing the "box-top boogie." That little JRT can climb like a mountain goat!!! She's also managed to dig her way into a couple of boxes just for the shear delight of discovering what mommy packed in them. There is a reason for that old saying, "duct tape is a girl's best friend!!!" At least now, when I can't find something, I can convince myself that I already packed it!
My apartment is looking less and less like a home and, more and more like a miniature warehouse. I will be SO glad when I finally get moved, settled and redecorated. I've also had to give away a lot of stuff because I won't have room for it in a smaller apartment and I hate to live in a place with so much furniture that you can barely move.
The worst part is, I don't know when a one bedroom that we'll find acceptable will come available. I'm hoping it won't be too long. If anyone has some good ideas as to how to survive living in chaos, please let me know!!! My nerves are shot!!!
