I thought this was I-LOVE-dogs.com
Not I-HATE-newcomers.com
I am new here. Obviously. I came here initially this morning to ask for some help. I introduced myself, I expressed that if anyone has any questions as to my cause, then PLEASE, contact me. In my post, I am prohibited from adding links and e-mail address, so I wrote my email address with spaces. I'm assuming now that this isn't allowed. In the email from "Yogi" the reason being was 'SPAM'. Spam?? Seriously?
For those of you who haven't an idea of what I'm speaking of. I wrote explaining our situation, and how and why we have set up a ChipIn account. Donations have been made, but my son suggested I try here, too. It was in hopes of gratefully accepting donations to bring a dog - who I rescued out of a kill shelter - home. It's a long trip. Thirty-seven hundred miles, to be exact. Volunteer transport? Nope. Too far. My only option to get her home is to go get her myself. Hence the ChipIn. My rescue group is made up of people all the way across North America, but most of us are in the same boat. So, coming here I was hoping to have some dog owners say "Hey you know what? I can help her out!" and donate even $2.00 But no. You flag me.
How many people actually read the post and said to themselves "Flag it" ? And how many actually DO love dogs and contacted me for more info about the ChipIn? NONE.
Was I able to email Yogi directly? Nope. Can't do that, either.
This site is about PR, politics, pats on the back and gossip. This is not a site that is a place for where people can tell another group of dog lovers that there is a dog who NEEDS help.
To whoever flagged me .... I just shake my head. Sometimes you just gotta forget the rules and say "F*ck it and do what's right. You know?
Unbelievable.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But from my own limited experience I have found that the Internet can be a dangerous place and the ease with which people can fool others and take money from unsuspecting people who think they are helping is frightening. As an administrator for a very different forum I would take the same view as the admins here and ask you to make yourself known to the group before posting a link to a money collecting site.
I think it is great that you are willing to rescue a dog who desperately needs a home but I would not want to give money to a stranger, no matter how little little the amount or how deserving the cause because there is so much on the Net that is not genuine.
I am in the UK so I guess my situation must be very different from yours but if I wanted to rescue a dog on death row then I would not have to travel over three thousand miles, I would be able to find one in my local pound. No matter how moved I may be by the plight of a dog on the other side of the country I know I could not in all conscience spend money to travel across the country while dogs in my town are being destroyed through lack of funds for local shelters.
I do struggled to contact an admin from the group a week or so ago - there were issues with the site and I was unable to log in. If you select "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page you can get in touch.

If I remember correctly you were not banned were you? No, benefit of the doubt was granted but to point out these measures were taken due to an excessive amount of solicitation and spam that was continuously a problem on this site. Coming here and posting with a request for money does not make a cause "right". Far too many scams on the internet have left many leery of said causes. The notation of 75 posts prior to such requests only ensures that you are not here just to promote your cause but actually shows other members that you are sincere in being here to the point that you are willing to contribute. But when your first post is not in the introduction section but aimed at a specific cause with request for members to send in money no matter how much or little violates the rules. It is not that members are not passionate but that we have seen far too much of this in the past and measures had to be taken once and for all and this was the action we took. Now, get involved with the site, contribute and once you have met the 75 post requirement, feel free to provide a link to your concern. So long as it is dog related and not an off topic there will be no problem.

I would like some more info before I consider donating to this cause. I would love to donate but you never know for sure if something is legit. Please send me some more info. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I must also point out that rescue sites do not ask for donations in this manner and already have people to cover transporting. I have been involved with shelters and rescues for years to the point that 16 of my dogs have come through rescues of which 5 were to be euthanized so if in fact this is a legitimate rescue, than you should already have people in place to handle transport without the need to ask for money. I live on the west coast and have dogs from the east coast with me.
These were transported without requesting monies from strangers on dog forum sites. Where is this dog located and why is it that the organization is not stepping up to assist in the transportation of the dog.
As for e-mailing me directly, you obviously did not try otherwise you would have. It is not that difficult. Read the information on user sites where it says to message the user.
As for flagging you, no one did that. It was your post that violated the forum rules that caused it to be removed.
If you had notified one of the moderators prior to just posting as to how you could do this without violating the rules, one of us may have been able to help you. Exceptions are made when asked first but you elected not to do this or consider it.
Many of us here have rescue dogs and work locally in our own area contributing time and money to local causes. This has a tendency to somewhat tap the financial resource pool. I have other options when it comes to getting dogs cross country. Many long haul drivers participate in rescues and transporting dogs. Who is the organization that has this dog and where it is located and has this organization worked with transporting before.

When I joined this forum I knew nobody. I was distressed because my dog had something wrong with her and I needed advice. I was bombarded with friendly, helpful people who got me through a tough time. It is a great forum and I am sorry that you feel the way you do.

Some info here.
Addressed to all above: I saw a private message in my inbox this morning. It was a very kind letter of one's suggestion to have mulitiple legs filled on this LD transport. My explanation to this is written below. I wasn't able to private msg her as I do not have enough posts but only read that after I tried. I copied and pasted what I wrote for you all here. I am running out of time today, so this here should let a few people who have replied to this thread, get some questions answered.
Yogi, I cannot contact you. I don't know if you're admin or not. I assumed you were. I tried once again today.
Just to point on one thing you has written: rescuers DO, in fact, ask for donations. Because it's not in this manner causes you to be alarmed? I have never joined a board ... I don't do that. I do this the 'old fashioned' way. We have bake sales, garage sales, Poop for Points, beer gardens etc. I live in a new town now. People here are NOT the supporting type. It's a small town made up of either elderly people who are only on pension, or hunters and farmers. I couldn't even begin to explain this odd town and it's inhabitants ... But, my usual ways of raising funds cannot be done here - I have tried last summer.
My affiliate rescue in New Mexico suggested I make a ChipIn account. After that was done it was posted on webbpages, and I thought I'd come here to ask, as well. I understand it does look pretty fishy, but I mentioned for anyone to contact me. In fact, I reiterated that. I encouraged anyone to contact me.
So. Here is my (undeliverable) reply to another member:
Hi ___, and thanks for responding. It means a great deal to me that you took the time to let me know of your suggestion.
With this dog, tho, the other rescuer in Arizona will not allow her to fly nor not have 'legs' filled to transport her here. She's an extremely nervous dog - wolfdog - which is what I rescue here in Canada. My goal was to try to keep her out of a refuge(s) and allow the refuge more space so that they can on/in take the extreme cases. I've done this many times in the past, but the dogs have always been a little closer to home. Not this time.
On a good note, and something that I may have failed to mention, is that the other rescuer (the man that I had pull the dog) will offer his own time and money and will transport her himself to Twin Falls, Idaho, for me to meet him there. This is WONDERFUL news! He has grown to love this old girl, and finds her to not be in the position of multiple transporters to get her here, as you had suggested. Yes, this a great way to get dogs transported, I love it ... but in this case, it's not for her, sadly.
My ChipIn has $500 raised, and I couldn't be more grateful to donaters!
As far as asking on this board here, I understand: people get scammed. BUT, in my own defence I am ligit, and had mentioned that people contact me, TALK to me, get to know me and from then on they could get references, ect. I have nothing to hide. I've been doing rescue for 32 years.
I noticed that there were replies to this thread; I wasn't notified. Guess I'll change that  As usual (when I do this) I am criticized byothers in rescue for not sticking to my own town. What people don't know, and shame shame for them to assume, is that I rescue all over; Canada and the US. But I do specific-dog rescue and that is wolfdogs. When a wolfdog is at risk of being euth'ed, or needs to be rehomed, I am there. Canada does not have a lot of woldogs being killed due to overpopulation of shelters. The dog will get adopted, most of the time, but if not, they will euth the dog when it is deemed a risk to society - that's when I get called. This dog was about to be euth'ed ... and no one stepped forward this time. My affiliate rescues asked me to help. And now here I am.
She will be spared
So, thank you so much ____, for offering your suggestions! Any other time this works, but sadly not this time. Hense the reason for my predicament. But it's all good, I'm confident that all will go as planned and she'll be safe in Canada soon! (yay)
Thanks so much. Again. Feel free to email/contact me any time. My email address is ...{ unable to post it.}

Trying once more
I'm getting private messages now from some of you, which is fine ... IF I were allow to respond back. Seeing as I am unable due to lack of (10) posts, I came on here yesterday morning to write, and hopefully, have you all understand the issue here. That was yesterday. Apparently my post is being 'approved by moderators' or something to that point, I don't know ... Now I'm writing this one and wondering when IT will get on here.
I STRONGLY encourage any of you to write me, personally, so that if you do have questions, I will have a fair chance to explain. Seems I have been unable to do this to any of you who have sent me private messages - and I'm sorry - I wish I were able to respond back, but this board will not allow that.
To whoever has written me already: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
