A family member (by marriage) adopted a dog on a whim... after a week, the dog was diagnosed with pneumonia, she complained and called it "ridiculous" for 3 days at the cost of the treatment and decided if this were to cause further issues the dog would be returned to the shelter. I took issue with it and let her know... guess the next family get together may be a bit tense.

My sister in law would buy dogs & adopt them out to other people often. I never understood it & neither did my husband. She's always "loved" dogs but was overwhelmed with the responsibilities of taking them on. You would think she would have learned the first time. Thankfully, she hasn't taken any dogs in a few years. The only positive thing I could say is she didn't put them into shelters
