D*mn POP-UPS Driving Me Mad!
How many of you are getting tons of these every time you come in forum? It is the only place I get pop-ups!! Once in a while (certain time of the day/night?---Have to check on the times, very few, that they don't happen!) I sometimes have to go to another page and look quick before the next one happens! Some of these will not let you check them off and they go clear to (over) the top of the page. Can't even read what I want to as it covers up the whole right side of the screen. It is getting more and more frustrating!!--As you see I am having to vent about it!! Lol, no one else here but me and the dog! But I would be interested as to how many this is happening to. I don't want to hear about pop-up blockers----I have absolutely no problem with pop-ups anywhere but here! I have had as many as at least 18 of them happen --one right after the other as soon as I get in forum. I lost track of exactly how many at one time as I couldn't keep up to them!

Same thing happened to me during the summer. It was driving me MAD too. I couldn't read the posts or X out the long ones to remove them. I had stopped logging in as often because I didn't want to deal with them.
Just like you, this was the only place I had a problem with pop ups.

I know what you mean about not feeling like coming in to forum as often---I have not come in at times cause it was just too much hazzle! I do not intend to put up a blocker--But did you, as it sounds like you aren't having a problem anymore?

I used to find this site was the worst but I realised the other day that the pop ups had gone - that could be down to my son adding a pop up blocker but I don't know.

I am sure that stopped them! I have never had a problem with them in other dog forums---Why do we have to have SO MANY in this one!! I refuse to have a blocker. First off I have enough problems with this computer and I am not going to stress it any more. 2nd, I am not that computer 'savy' and I'd have to have someone else do it ---I could experiment but I have had problems with other things I have tried to add---and like I said this computer is 'testy'---I need more ram and a new computer or tower. I can't afford it right now and even that would be a hazzle for me--trying to set up a new computer and get everything back to where things were before.
Lol, my lawnmower is 'done' so I need to put money out for a new one---next summer--the h*ll with the last mowing for this year! This past year with the expenses of Corky, and my car needing work--It is just too much when trying to live off of social security--and it sounds like no increase in that this year just like last year---and it was and is definitely called for more now with the cost of living like it is. Sorry to be so 'ornery'--not in a very happy mood lately.

Yes, I started using a pop up blocker. I know with Firefox you can add them easily as add-on's but I don't know how much memory they take.
I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with everything. It gets to be ridiculous how the price of living doesn't seem to falter its growth while everything else holds at a standstill or worse. A few months ago I finally had it with cable & sat tv raising their prices. I went on strike & we're still without it. I'll stick with the basic channels. I prefer Redbox & Netflix anyway. I also said bye bye to the normal landline, now I use Magicjack at a small fraction of the price. As for big cellphone trying to hook you in on some contract...nope..I'll do with your basic boring cheap Net10 phones. I still have everything I need plus some luxury. Thank God for competition

Download a pop up blocker. I use two different ones on separate pc's.
This one is free if you use Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/
I'm not sure which works best for IE..Hopefully someone can post one if that's what you use.
Here's a fun place to check your computers pop up blocking abilities: PopupTest - test your popup blocker, download free popup blockers

Yes, I encountered pop-ups when logging in and going to different forum categories. It is not a normal pop-up because it is moving. It's hard to close that one and I ended up refreshing the page.

Yeah! Very maddening and now I am getting one that is even worse---It comes on and covers the whole screen--nice big x to exit it in upper right hand corner that does not work at all--I have to go completely off the internet and start all over again!!! It is getting where I debate as to come in forum as often as I use to---too much SLOW work and very frustrating!!! Coming into this forum use to be fun and relaxing for me---Now it is neither one!

I would, but post #5 in this thread I did still stands:

If your Browser is Mozilla FireFox use their Adblocker Plus. Be sure it is enabled for this site! Also if you use to not get popups and now you do, try clearing firefox's history, cache, temp files and such. If you are using Internet Explorer, I wouldn't use it as my primary browser. Its more susceptible to virus, adware, and spyware because it is more popular so there is a larger chance of exploits. I use to brows this site with no pop-up blocker, but some of the pop-ups were a nuisance, positioning them-self in the page where you couldn't hit the X to kill them, Blocking your view of the forum content. Content placed adds are ok with me as long as they are in the sidebars, But to get rid of the pop-ups I had to use adblocker and it will even block the forums ads that they need to help pay some of the bills. I mentioned this to the admins in another thread but didn't get any reply from anyone. Bottom line is this site's owner has gone to using a agressive advertiser to gain more income for the clicks on the adds. But this is causing the users to have to block all adds period. Thus blocking content based adds that could have helped pay maintenance on keeping the forum running.
Do I get a atta-boy!?

I've thought similarly. I've also wondered how many potential posters those ad's have chased away...Inquiring minds want to know!
That particular ad is the most annoying things on the net. I remember cursing a few times..and I don't like to cuss when I'm trying to relax.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
