Losing a family member
Most of us have more than one pet and with that we generally have more than just dogs. To those who know me well I raised and bred Manx cats for several years. With this I have lost one of my treasured ones. TiLi was part Manx and part Siamese domestic mix. He was the 9 year old son of Tigger Li my breeding male that died this time last year. Within a month of that Spice, Tiggers youngest son succumbed to a feline disease at only 4 years of age.
TiLi, like most of my cats have the roam of the house. Noted for his ability to open doors literally as well as cupboards and drawers which irritated me since he generally would go in and mess things up, will be deeply missed. A big beautiful Russian Blue colored boy. At nearly 18lbs and 12 inches at the withers and 15 1/2 inches at the hind quarters, he was gentle and careful when he played. His teeth were like his fathers, so long that they hung out of his mouth.
I noted that the dogs were constantly checking the corner of the dining room by the china hutch since Saturday. I was just telling them to get away from the area not even thinking that there was something there that was intriguing their curiosity. This is what upsets me the most as I have raised dogs and cats for so many years that I can read what they are doing and heed their actions. For some reason, this time I did not. TiLi was found dead between the wall and the china hutch. The same place the small dogs had been trying to get to since Saturday. Their curiosity finally got the better of me yesterday evening. I generally do not go in that area for anything so never thought much about it. When I walked over to the area still not seeing him I immediately called out his name. I realized I had not seen him since early Saturday morning. With 11 cats all roaming or hiding it is difficult to keep track of them as they have a tendency to do what they want I have always been one to let them. This time I wish I had not and there I discovered him. He was laid to rest with his father and brother in the garden and will be extremely missed. RIP "Ti". Pops will miss you.

I'm sorry. Don't feel bad about not finding him soon. It wouldn't have mattered when you found him. Him was gone.

I'm very sorry. Don't be so hard on yourself. It seems to be in a cats nature that when they are approaching the end of this life, they find a quiet out of the way place to be.
With as many animals as you have rescued and raised, it is easy to not notice one who is absent for a while. Every animal who is lucky enough to find their way to you is given a wonderful life. Mourn your lost baby but, don't feel guilty. You are the best dad I know!!!

Oh, Yogi I am so sorry this happened! Lara said it all very well---You are the best dad to all your brood. Mourning the loss of a pet is something I do not do well (or too well?) I hope you have an easier time then I do and time will heal the loss. I am not saying this very well I know but I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Oh Yogi I'm so sorry!!...I know just what you feel...I'm sure you remember how devastated I was at the loss of Kujo and Nina...
I know the guilt you feel as well...Even though we know it wasn't our fault and it was nothing we did wrong we always feel like there's something we could have done..
Just remember that you give all of your animals more love and care then most people do to one animal...You're an awesome pet parent and your animals couldn't ask for a better one...I truly believe that for those of us here that have such a love for our pets and such incredible bonds that we grieve their loss as hard if not harder then any human we love...
It's been over a year since I lost my 2 and even with having Seigi I still grieve their loss..We're all here to support you through this as we all understand what you're going through...So just know that your not alone and you're baby has crossed Rainbow Bridge to be with the rest of his family!
Hang in there!

I sometimes think that man committed and error when creating dog and cat in the sense of domesticating them. Unknowingly through time as they have become pets and companions and family members, those that domesticated them obviously had no idea that through out time the hearts of these animals and ours would become intertwined. It is for this reason that I feel more hurt as bonding cannot be described as even the word to attach to the feelings we have for our furry family friends. We sometimes take light of their antics and frustrated with their inabilities but through it we seem to adore them more drawing them in even closer. I have never mixed my words or opinions of mankind and where I feel they are in comparison to the animals. Simply put, I really have had no use for people having seen the bad side of them far more often than the reported good. But in animals, there is a sense of serenity in the madness that they sometimes possess. The kind of serenity that makes you laugh and cry all at the same time, but always in a good way until the serenity dies. Than all you are left with is memories.

Yogi,I could not have said it better!...I to have not much use for people except for family who some of them I don't care for,my best friend and the members here..That's the main reason I got out of Nursing and went back to dog training...I have seen and been victim of to much evil by the human race....I think one of the reasons we form such a strong bond with our pets is because they don't judge us and give us unconditional love and I believe that is one of the reasons our hearts and souls as you said become entwined with theirs...I've lost many people I love but with the exception of my grandmother and late husband I did not grieve for them the way I did Nina and Kujo and sadly people that are not like us can't understand that....Nina irritated me to no end with her behavior problems but the love she gave me and her silly antics made it all worth it...Kujo well for those of you that know me well know that he was my heart and soul...I had a bond with him like I've never had with any other dog...he simply knew how to read me,my moods and my emotions..Sometimes better then my own husband...I was devasted over losing them both but especially him...for many months after I lost them I would see them and hear them bark to where I would wake up out of a dead sleep and it would take a few seconds to realize they weren't here..
People that are not animal lovers to the extent that those of us here are simply don't grasp the pain and heartache we feel when we lose our beloved pets...I'm sure I can safely say that for all of us here that have lost a pet it's as if we've lost one of our children..
Just remember that you gave your fur kid the best life he could have had just as you do the rest of your clan and that we all know what you're feeling and we're here to support you...
I still grieve quite a bit over Kujo and Nina, partly because of the circumstances but mostly because of the love, companionship and loyalty they gave me..
I've heard it said over and over that it gets easier with time but I disagree...I think we just learn how to cope with it!!!
