Sounds like fun.
I know in Seattle, we have the international district where those of asia decent have huge celebrations with parades and costumes. The same for Cinco DeMayo
for the Latin American community. The Irish on St Patricks day have a large celebration (especially at O'Learys and several other pubs in the district). Just about every nationality has some sort of celebration where traditional costume and regalia is displayed marking tradition and heritage. None though quite as nice to me as the local native tribes. They put on a show on the Island nightly.
You ferry out (It is part of the reservation) and are treated to a night of native American dance in full costume followed by a native American baked Salmon meal in the traditional manner. No lemon used here on fish, only Ooligan....
We have Oktoberfest celebrations for the Bohemian and German community as well as celebrations for the Italians etc. Like I said, it seems there is one monthly here.
