Arrow About Humane Society--Not Right Place for this but will do for now!

These are some quotes from a newsletter I get:

I do applaud the HSUS for its accomplishments: animal protection, criminalizing animal abuse, passing animal protection bills, animal welfare, fighting animal cruelty, raids on puppy mills and animal hoarders, fighting for more humane conditions at farms and feedlots etc.

My point is that the public typically doesn't know this little factoid: "HSUS gives less than ½ of 1% of donated monies to the care of dogs and cats in local shelters. The total returned to local shelters was less than $500,000 for 2008 out of $100 million dollars raised."

So if you want to support HSUS, by all means, send them money to support their fight.

And if you want to support your local shelter, send them money directly or donate your time (or food, or blankets, or towels depending on their needs). And while you're there, please save a life, adopt a pet.
