Ever hear of this breed of cat?
I bring this link to a child's story because it talks about Ocicats. I am not a cat person but this breed sounds kind of interesting--looks like a small leopard but is a breed of domestic cat. You cat lovers ever hear of it?

Yes, I have. I want one but I don't want to pay $2000 for one. They are pretty neat looking.

Hmm..a cat like a dog?
Quoted: "While the Ocicat looks wild, its temperament is anything but ferocious. It is a lot like a dog in that it is absolutely devoted to its people. The Ocicat is not a demanding, clinging-vine type, but is confident as well as dedicated to its owners. Most Ocicats are also quite extroverted around strangers, not at all bashful about checking out the possibilities for a few playmates or a lap to curl up on when visitors come to call.
Ocicats are quite bright and easily trained. Many will fetch, walk on a leash, respond to voice commands and readily adapt to household rules. Because of their adaptability, they are a joy to work with and easily get used to traveling. Their sociable nature may make them less suited than some other breeds to being left alone for long periods of time, but it does make them a good choice for a household already blessed with other cats or dogs."

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

Ha Ha---I might become a cat person yet and they would be easier to 'handle', lol, and pet and pet, and pet--esp that last breed you showed. I like that one a little better because it is so cuddly looking--soft--I'd want the long haired one and no greasy coat please. Luna was saying how expensive that 1st breed is--I bet this one also is not too cheap.
Just found this on the net: Expect to pay $250 to $650 for a curly pet quality Selkirk. The price depends largely upon the coat's curl. Straight-haired Selkirks run $100 to $300. Breeder quality Selkirks cost $400 to $800, and show quality will set you back $650 to $850, sometimes more. Prices depend upon the coat quality, but also on body type, color and pattern, bloodline, gender, area and breeder. Cats retired from breeder or show careers are sometimes placed with good homes; such cats are altered before placement and usually run $50 to $200.
Since the gene pool is still small, some breeders are reluctant to part with even their pet quality curly Selkirks. However, this is slowly changing as numbers rise. The average wait for a curly Selkirk is 6 months to a year. Be flexible about color and gender and your wait will be shorter. Straight-coated Selkirks - cats that lack the rex gene but possess the Selkirk body style and personality - can be obtained more easily.
And here is the link to the whole article--fairly new breed-14 yrs if I remember right---> Choosing a Selkirk Rex - Page 1

That is very interesting! The greasy coat thing is a bit odd though. lol And after what Luna said that the Ocicat cost 2grand, $800 sounds reasonable!
If it weren't for Akita's not doing well with cats I would seriously look into this one. It may have been worth over looking having kitty litter in the house. All the colors of this one....they ALL are ADORABLE!
