My pekingese had a hernia. The vet took it off when he neutered him. The recovery time was like 2 weeks about. He had the Elizabethian collar on to keep him from licking (the big white funnel collar). Its not that expensive either. My vet didnt charge any extra on top of the neutering but I guess it depends on where you go. Is your puppy spayed/neutered? If not the vet will do it when you get him/her neutered/spayed. If your puppy is, and they remove it, it shouldnt cost that much (100 tops) since its minor surgery. If you don't want to spend that much, I suggest calling around vet offices to see how much they charge for the spay/neuter and removal of hernia's .. or just the removal of the hernia's if he/she is already neutered/spayed.Good luck!& kudo's for rescuing a life :]
