Unless you can prove who the parents are and they are registered, you cannot register with the AKC.

Hi,To be registered with the Kennel Club, it needs to be a Pedigree and would already have registration papers - as the breeder would have pre-registered when a puppy. Hence the reason that pedigree puppies are so much more expensive than cross breeds!

You need a copy of the dogs family history further than 3 generations to make sure its a true pedigree before registering

If you know the dog's COMPLETE registered name you can the info, but to get papers you must go back to the previous owner that has the papers. The AKC will not give you the registration no. which you will need to change ownership.

You need to go to the vet or the humaine society and get a blood test to first determine the breed of dogs before you can get it registered. But the test will cost some big bucks if you go threw the vet, but the humaine society should be cheaper.
