Default please help, my dog attack one of the mice i rescued and i think it has spinal

injuries? i preffer the dogs and dont care too much for the rodents, but one got out of the cage the last night (i didnt close it well) and when i figured out what was going on i noticed that my dog didnt have a toy she had the mouse and when i yelled she dropped it. he wasnt moving at all, but with in 30 min it started to pull itself with its front legs, i was worried that he had broken its back and had spinal injuries (in pre med now) but this morning he was moving one back leg fine and the other he was dragging and the toes were curled. now after work his toes are no longer curled, and you can barely tell but it looks lilke he might me trying to move the thigh part of it. is there anything i can do for it?? i feel bad becase we rescued it from being eaten by a snake and it was half eaten by my dog (who is only 8 pounds) will it continue to get better over tiem, is ther anythingi should do to encourage repair of injury? i know it is a stupid mouse but he looks so pitiful and is still trying

Kills the mouse .... don't let it live with an injury. I'd say flush the mouse down the tiolet.

I'm sorry to say this but there is nothing you can do. No vet is going to operate on a mouse so just keep him in a seperate living space and pray it heals on his own.

Ohhhhhh Hun i am so sorry.I think it might be more humane to put it to sleep. But if you want you can give it an other hour to see if it gets better on its own. If you think it maybe in pain you may email me and i can tell you how to relieve its pain. (Put to sleep humanly.)

I don't think flushing it down the toilet would be very humane... like EJ said, just keep the animals seperated and see if it heals. If it doesn't, then I suppose put it out of it's misery, but make it quick - drowning isn't quick. Shovel to the neck?

Leave it be. Just don't flush it down the toilet it's cruel and it's STILL a life after all. There are cases where rodents suffer dislocation or sustain broken bones and when left without treatment, they get used to it and dont feel any pain after some time. Just keep it in the cage well with food and water.

Take this animal to the vet. The vet may not be able to do anything, but will be able to euthanize. Just beause it is a mouse does not mean that it doesn't deserve the same care a injured cat or dog does. And if you cannot afford to take the mouse to the vet, which is the right thing to do, than maybe in the future you should put more thought into purchasing an animal you cannot properly care for, rescue or not.Sorry if this sound preachy, but every animal deserves proper care, I see too many people, kids especially that get these animals and think because it cost $1.99 than it shouldn't be taken to the vet.
