Default DOGS::so what happens when you can't find any rescues or affordable breeders...?

I want a Bull Terrier soo bad.. (not to be confused with the PIT BULL, they are two totally different dogs). So what happens when breeders charge wayy over your price range (most of the charge 1500+!) and no rescues have one? How do I still get one?

Ask the SPCA or rescue groups to put you on a pre-approved mailing list.

You can go to your local shelter or Humane association. They usually have all kinds of terrier's. The last time I went they had a bull, a fuzzy one (I don't know what kind), and a jack.

Well I did a search for Bull Terrier puppies and I found a site that listed puppies $80 - $2000 http://www.nextdaypets.com/ I don't know how reputable it is, I think it is just a site for breeders to list their puppies. But it might be worth checking into.

Try the Bull Terrier club of america... they have tons of information. Also..what is your price range? If you can't afford to buy a dog...chances are you can't afford to keep one... but then again..there are dogs out there that are very pricey. If you can't afford one...and your heart is set on one... take some time out..and save your money. You don't NEED it right now...I know you really really want one...but take the time to save money and get a good dog from a good breeder. Most good breeders do ask a lot of money for their animals... mainly because they just don't want kids or someone on a whim to walk in and think they can just get a dog cheap.

We adopted a dog from a rescue that was on Petfinder.com and are very happy with her. We met a few others before choosing her, though. The big advantage of adopting from a rescue is that the dog's foster family can tell you all about his or her behavior and habits, info you don't get from the pound. Also, please consider a bull terrier mix, they would still be cute but less likely to exhibit health problems common to the purebreds. Our new dog happens to be a pit bull mix, and the foster family was able to observe her for dog, food, or child aggression for several weeks beforehand, which took a lot of the guesswork out of our decision. Good luck!

Uh, I don't know - I like Yachts and Private Jets but they cost too much so I don't shop for them! I do play the Powerball though, just in case.

I agree with talking to the Bull Terrier Clubs as they have connections to rescues with the breed typically. You're not looking for a very popular breed so expect to pay more than say a lab or shih tzu. Also, talk to breeders and see if they know of anybody with a young adult/adult they're looking to rehome. Sometimes breeders have buyers bring back pups they bought (for various reasons), or show dogs that just don't make the cut. See if they'll charge less for show quality dogs.

Visit local shows. I wouldn't buy from a breeder without doing extensive research, and surely wouldn't buy from an online website that has various breeders listed. If the breeder is quality they won't need to advertise online, they'll have buyers BEFORE breeding their dogs. The best bet is to talk to BT owners, and where else to find tons of them than at a show?!
