That is a hard question. Pups are rowdy and depending on how old your children are, could be more than you bargained for. I think a rescue dog is good if it has been in a foster home for a while. The foster parents will know how the dog reacts around children. You could also take your children with you and see how the dog interacts with them. Having a puppy in the house with young children will be hard on the pup. Young ones just can't seem to leave a pup a lone for very long.
