I found this york terrier on the side of the road today and it looked like it was hit by a car, so I picked it up and brang it to the vets, they said it is in shock and has head trauma, how can anyone leave a dog this small near a road I have no clue, and she is so sweet and innocent looking, I am just wondering if a small dog like this can survive a head trauma?

I just wanna know so that i can raise this dog as my own.

I own small dogs, am a vet-tech and pet groomer and there are a lot of variables in a head trauma. It is really up to the Vet and God but, I know that just because it has a head trauma does not mean it will die or even be brain damaged. It's a waiting game. Let the Vet do all he can and pray. As the previous poster had stated, it really is a waiting game at this point. I too have worked in veterinary and can no more agree that sometimes even after the vet's best efforts it ends in tragedy. Let's hope that's not the case. And by that, I mean that not only does this animal survive BUT it has a decent quality of life afterwards as well. This may be a decision you'll have to be prepared to make down the road in regards to it's permanent quality of life and what's in the animal's best interest.
