I don't understand why you'd have to either give away or euthanize your dog if BSL comes into effect in your area. I live in Ontario where pit bulls have been banned since 2005. All pit bulls had to be spayed/neutered and leashed and muzzled at all times when not confined to their home or secure backyard. Admittedly, many people chose to surrender their dogs when the ban was enacted because there is a staggering amount of liability attached to owning this breed should the dog escape and attack either a person or an animal.

Unless the rules where you live are very different, you just have to be vigilant and follow the law to the letter.

Could you provide more detail as to what the particular BSL legislation in your area involves?

Well I don't know what type of bsl it is, i do know that many places in the US when the pit is banned you Cannot own one,like in Miami-Dade count and if you do, animal control will sieze your dogs, because it is illegal to own one.
And in Ohio it's the as Miami-Dade county, along with many other places in the U.S. it seems to be the most common ban here.
AND EVEN IF
it's the same as the one there it still isn't fair and i shouldn't have to force my dog to wear a muzzle whenever he is in a public place, because my pitbull is just as much as a threat as any other breed. From the newspaper though it says "Mayor working to ban all dangerous dogs" so I'm guessing it's the same as in Miami-Dade county.

That's terrible! It is totally unfair to expect anyone to hand over their dog to be euthanized when its done nothing wrong! I'm glad our legislation wasn't so repressive. In Ontario the breed will just die out as no pups have been born since 2005. I can't even imagine what you're going through. Have there been incidents in your area involving pit bulls that led to this potential ban?
