Boxer for adoption
I need to adopt out my 4 year old, fawn, male (neutered) boxer to a good home with no small children. The other night he snapped at my one year old son and got his face. My child, thank God, was not seriously hurt, but I can't keep the dog. He's in good health and has been on heartgard and flea preventative consistently since he was a pup. He is current on all his vaccinations including borella (lyme disease) and bordatella (kennel cough). He has been through obedience training and knows his commands, even hand signals. He's very high energy and demands a lot of attention. He has never done anything like this before. He made a huge mistake! He's a sweet boy, and it breaks my heart to give him up. This is my last hope for my boxer. He needs to go to a good home asap! If anyone is interested please contact me before Friday. Thanks in Advance!

Contact your local humane society and ask them to post a pic on webfinder for you with all of his info. That way you can find a home and not have to take him to a shelter.

Boxer for adoption
I've got him on the local boxer rescue website, but no hits yet! I talked to someone from the save a pet foundation, and they are trying to help. I guess the local shelters won't take pure bred owned dogs that are fully "veted" (that is the term they use). I took him to pet smart last Sat., but everyone wants puppies. Thank you so much for the reply! I am thankful for any leads!

Just curious:
Did you witness the bite? Did anything happen that might have caused it or, was it unprovoked? It just seems really odd that after all this time, your dog would lash out at your child. Could there possibly be something physically wrong with him; something that hurts?

Boxer for adoption
My husband witnessed it. He said our son was walking by the dog, when the dog turned, snapped at the baby, and the baby feel down. I think that's was kept the injuries from being severe. The child did not touch the dog. We are not sure what caused it. We think it might have been jealousy. We're not positive. I've checked the dog over to see if he might have had an unknown injury, and I cant' find anything. I use to work at a vets office, so I know the problems some boxers are prone to have. I'd love to come up with a good excuse for the dog, but I can't. I feel I owe it to my dog to give him a fighting chance in a good home with no children. Although, he has always played well with my nephews (age 5 and 9). He gets along with cats and other dogs very well. I just don't know what went wrong that night.

Chances are, you may never know what caused him to bite. While it could be a "one off", I can certainly understand that you can't take the chance of your child being bitten again. I'm really sorry that you're going through this. It must be terribly painful for you. I hope you find a good home for your dog. You may have a better chance of rehoming him if you get him neutered.

Thank You for the understanding and kind words!! The dog is neutered. I think the bite thing makes people nervous, but I'm an honest woman.
