Default Looking for Female Rottie Puppy to adopt

My 11 year old Rottie was just diagnosed with Cancer yesterday.
I have been looking for a new puppy to bond with and learn from her, but since she was diagnosed, I feel I'm running out of time.

If anyone know of a Rottie or Boxer Rescue group near Pensacola, Florida I would sincerely appreciate and information you can pass on.

I've checked all shelters and vets in the area, and no one has any large breed puppies for adoption.

I prefer Rotties, but any large breed puppy with short hair would certainly be considered.

Thank You for any help you can provide.

I also need any info/homeopathic treatment that could help my Big Girl stay as healthy as possible with this diagnosis.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby...I know how tough that it must be for you...I live in Missouri and my breed is Akita's and I looked at every shelter and rescue in the state and could not find a pure bred that was a puppy...I finally gave in and went to the only reputable breeder in the state...

Have you tried Petfinder.com? I know on my breeders website she has links to Akita rescus although none had any under 2yr.s of age but maybe you could check out some breeder sites and see if they have links...

Good luck!

Thank you.
I think I'm in shock right now.

Yes, I've been researching all day (that's how I found this wonderful site) and I've even signed up for email alerts from various shelters.

I prefer a rescue pup, but may have to purchase and have no clue who would be reputable in the surrounding area.

Your Akita is beautiful.

Thanks again.

I can't help you with finding a puppy. I just wanted to tell you that if you put in a new post--a new thread on the cancer questions in the Dog Health and Nutrition section/forum or the Question and Answer section you will get much better results as some members may never know you are asking as this looks only like an adoption question by the title you are using--If a member has no answer for what the title 'is saying'---May not bother reading the post at all! There is a current thread about a dog that has cancer and what is being done to help it. This is the link to that thread:Hemangiosarcoma Diagnosis

What kind of cancer is it? (You don't need to answer in this thread if you decide to do a new thread on this as it will just have members going back and forth--makes for a weaker situation also as some would read and answer in one place and somebody else would answer in the second place.

Thank you, he's a great puppy...What I did was Google Akita breeders in Missouri, went to the sites and the first thing I looked at was their adoption/purchase application as well as the guarentee they gave for health...Then I looked to see how much info they gave as far as what kind of genetic testing they did,if parents were on premises and available to see,if the dogs they bred were shown, titled and confirmed etc...For every dog my breder has that she uses for breeding she has a link to their pedigree, their show titles as well as their hip scores and their OFA # and with that # you can go to the site and see their hip score as well as if they've had heart.ears, eyes tested...She also listed their thyroid test results since that's a common issue with the breed as well as her vets phone # for confirmation...This is a start of what you can look for...

Hope it helps.

Don't know if this is any help:
To adopt a pet, contact:
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Go to ASPCA: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and look in their Find a Shelter database under "Adoption."

Humane Society of the United State. Go to The Humane Society of the United States : The Humane Society of the United States and look under the Select a Pet menu.

This is a link within one of the above links. I do not know where (city) you live in Florida so I could not enter anything but you can: ASPCA | Find a Shelter

No problem glad to help...If you have any more questions on what to look for in a reputable breeder feel free to ask...You can also ask Yogi the other moderator..He's been a breeder for many, many years and is always an excellent source for info especially on subjects pertaining to breeding...I also bred for almost 15yr.s so either of us as well as some of the other members can be of help!

So sorry to hear about your Rottie. I had one as a child and loved her dearly.
Using Petfinder, I found a litter of Great Dane/Lab puppies available for adoption in Pensacola at the NW Florida Great Dane Rescue, Inc. Also, sounds crazy, but you may want to check Craig's list. That's where I found my purebred CO for adoption!
Best wishes.
