Help find Liona forever home or a foster family! - Philly,PA
Liona is a 9-12 month old Pharaoh Hound mix who has a gorgeous tan coat, a lovely face and a very petite figure (30 lbs max). She was surrendered to the shelter because her owner is sick and can no longer care for her, not because of any behavioral problems on her part.
Liona is energetic and would do best in a home where she can release her energy with a good jog or long walk. When wearing a harness, she does not pull on the leash and even with a collar she is too much of a lightweight to pull hard on it. Once she is all played out, she is a snuggly little girl who loves to give kisses and will try to be as close to you as possible. She knows "sit", "come here" and "no" so far but needs an owner who will continue to work with her to learn even more commands because she is eager to learn and please. Liona is extremely smart and hence learns rather quickly. She is very treat motivated and can't wait to learn new things! Additionally, she wants to make "her human" happy and loves to respond to commands. While in the car, she is relaxed and calm to the point where she just rolls up and sleeps. Liona appears housebroken but may need a refresher.
Liona should not live in a home with cats. She would most likely chase them. But she has gotten along well with every dog she has met so far. And if they are willing to play and run with her, even better!
If you have dogs, be sure to bring them with you when you come to meet her.
Liona is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on her vaccinations, so she can go home today!!!!!! If you cannot adopt her permanently but would like to help, please consider becoming Liona's foster parent until she finds her happy ending. You would not only save Liona but also another dog that will move into her kennel at ACCT.
Liona has a Pen Pal! A Pen Pal is a shelter volunteer, determined to find her a foster or forever home. She works with her on basic commands and socialization as well as markets him to potential foster parents and adopters. Right now, Liona is working on how to walk nicely on the leash using a harness and is learning basic commands.
If you are interested in giving Liona a home, please email me (her Pen Pal at ACCT) for more information! Or just come by ACCT and meet Liona yourself! I am happy to introduce you at the shelter or answer any question you might have, about Liona, adopting, or fostering.
This beautiful girl needs a great home where she can blossom and become a wonderful dog!! Please come save her life today!

Welcome to the forum!
Hi! Read both your posts but will just reply here. Hope you like the forum--pretty great place! Hope you find a home for Liona-'handsome' dog--Are there that many around of that breed--At least in the states? Her name kind of fits too! I just rescued a golden retriever/cocker mix. Guess it is not possible for you to adopt Liona or you prob. would. Good thing that my 'city' will only allow two dogs to a person or I'd prob. have more--Think this is pretty much the way it is in most cities in the states, although it is up to the individual cities.
Good luck with finding her a forever home. Keep us posted!

Hi there,
thank you for responding!
Liona has luckily been pulled out of ACCT by a no-kill rescue in Jersey. So she is save and I am more than happy!
You are right, I cannot adopt or foster Liona because a) my lease won't allow any pets and b) I have a dog where I am from originally and when she either comes to the US or I go back to Germany, it won't be possible for me to have 2 dogs because my diva doesn't tolerate any other pet beside her.
In any other case I would adopt or at least foster for the time that I am here. Since I can't, I try to do my best by volunteering and plastering the i-net and my neighborhood with adoption ads so that I can at least help in finding some of the dogs at ACCT a forever home.
Have a great day!
