Hello!

I am very new to this site and have alot of questions so I was hoping someone on here would be kind and help me out. I plan to open up a non-profit dog shelter where I live, and I know I need to figure out my resources before I just decide to do this. How do I find out where the high kill shelters are? How do I get donations for food etc.? These are just a few questions that I've thought up so far, and I am hoping that someone reads this that has experience and wouldn't mind answering my questions! Thank you so much!

If you want food for dogs then check Boulder dog food company. They support lot of charities and will surely help you.

I'm in the same boat. And posted on another forum. All I got was negative feed back and people telling me to volunteer with existing groups. I hate to tell these people. They had to start somewhere. Anyway I read that you can get donations from Walmart and petmart and such in way of their dinted cans and ripped bags of dog food. I'm sure you've read the same thing if you're looking up the same things I am but that's what I got lol. Unlike my replies I'll wish you luck!!!

I'm in the UK. On a local basis a lot of the smaller rescues have baskets/bins in the local supermarkets where people can drop off food donations. If you have the property and no restrictions from local bye laws etc. then go for it.

Start small and word will get around.
