I hate people who do that - take them to the nearest dog pound or dog shelter and leave a decent medical sheet so that they can at least have the chance of a good home!!!

We got a pound puppy once that had been found in a sack by the side of the road, when she was just a teeny little newborn puppy. So horribly mean. I can't believe they couldn't be bothered to just take her to the pound.

That is really sad. I could never do it to any of my pets. I would feel so empty without them.

That is the decent way of doing it, but some people simply do not care about dogs at all, especially if those dogs, to their mind, are either just sharing in their budget or taking most of their time by attending to them, pity those dogs can't file a case against those heartless individuals.

Twice I've had dogs that either didn't fit into the family or were otherwise not a good fit, and in both cases I put ads in my local paper "Free to good home" and found good homes for both of them. It's not that hard to get rid of a dog or puppies you don't want without resorting to abandonment or cruelty.

I simply cannot understand those kind of people too. I for one will never abandon a dog (even if it's not mine). My heart can't take that kind of treatment. I love dogs to bits and even if I could not care for our dogs anymore, I'd gladly give them to someone whom I know can provide for them rather than leave them alone to die.

Both of our dogs were abandoned. Bandit, the husky mix, followed my brother home one day and my parents took him in. They took care of him for 2 years before me & my husband got him from them, they just couldn't take care of 2 big dogs anymore, plus my sister started 'playing' with him with a garden hose & now he's scared of them. Courage, our boxer mix puppy, was found on the side of the road next to his siblings & mother. His mother looked as if she had gotten ran over, and by the time my dad (a police officer) found them, most of his siblings had died. Only Courage and one other survived, Dad grabbed them both & gave us one & gave the other to my little brother.

My Akita Kujo was abandoned and picked up by animal control. He was about 10 months old.I saw his picture on T.V and went to see him.I asked the girl how long he'd been there and she said 3weeks but was going to be put down in 6 days.I asked her why as that AC usually holds dogs for 6 months. She told me because he was an Akita and they didn't think anyone would adopt him.Ticked me right off especially since I used to breed them and he was only a pup and very loving, friendly and playful. We took our last $60 and adopted him on the the spot. We've had him since '04 and he's one of sweetest Akita's I've ever owned.I will never understand why his owners abandoned such a sweet, young, loving pup.I sure would like to meet them and show them what they missed out on with their cruelty!
