You dog should have already been vaccinated against rabies to begin with. There are 2 types of rabies shots. One type lasts 1 yr until you have to go back to the vet for another shot, the other type lasts 3 yrs. overall, just make sure your dog doesn't scratch at the wound or go outside and get dirt in it. Until his wound heals, he should be given walks on a leash when he needs to go outside to do his business. Also, if he shows signs of infection, he will need an ointment called Animax, which you will have to get from a vet. if it gets too infected, he may need oral antibiotics.Good Luck

Keep an eye on the wound. Bite wounds can abscess quickly causing severe pain and infection. If you notice heat, swelling, or discomfort in the area of the bite, your dog will need to see a vet to have the area drained and flushed. The dog may need antibiotics in this case. I'm assuming you saw a vet for the rabies injection since it's illegal to give it yourself in most states? If not, please do so. Having veterinary documentation of an injury in case something happens is important. Also, make sure your dog is not licking, chewing, or rubbing the wound.

you already did all the basic things so they wound wont get infected right away. its also great that he has the rabies shot. the only thing you should worry about is that his wound doesnt get infected. the way i can tell when my dogs get in fights and tear each other apart (they have jealosy problems and sometimes they willl fight for attention) we just clean the wound and make sure it does not get dirt or anything you might think that is dangerous. also check that it doesnt turn yellow/brown. thats a first sign of infection.
