Why does the stray dog keep biting me?????????

I rescued this puppy (6 months old?) from next to a highway..... and it bit me so hard when I grabbed and picked him up. He gave me couple of puncture wounds.I keep him in a large pen (50' X 10') where he stays because I'm afraid he'll run out on to the street when the gate opens on our property. Also to keep him away from my other dogs at least until he is checked for Parvo and fleas. But whenever I try to pick him up, he always bites me really hard. He always runs away from me unless I have a snack in my hand. So will he ever change or should I just take him to the shelter?

Maybe he thinks you're a bone....^_^Just keep him... He'll get used to you in a matter of time and he'll be tamed...Or....You'll get used to all his bitings...^_^

Are you sure it's a puppy and not a fox or hyena? Just asking because I saw something like that on the news recently. They are coming out of the woodwork, now that humans are encroaching on their territories. Have a Vet look at it to see what's going on.

he is probably scared to death give him time maybe he is isck and does not want to be touched take him in the vet as soon as possible

no hes probably scared give him some time to ajust 2 his new home pleeze dont put him back in the rescue shelterapproch him calmly and give him a treat maybe when you go to pick him up he feels hurt or threatened or he just doesnt like being picked up. if he is a big dog whats the point of getting him used to beining picked up its not like your going to pick him up when he is older are you. i recamend giving him lots of love and treatz and spend alot of time with him. if you desperatly need to pick him up put on gloves that are very thick and that a dog cant bite through or more or less it wont hurt you if he does

You took him away from his home. how would you like it if you were poor and don't have a nice house, but it's home w/ family but someone comes and takes you away to a huge mansion and puts you in 10x15 area. YOU MEAN INCONSIERARATE PERSON!!!!!
