ok well today my cousins were over ages 5+4 and they saw a stray dog i gave it some canned cat food because it looked hungry and i only have cat food plus my cat wont eat that kind and he scarfed it down then i gave him some water and petted him. he waggs his tail alot and although scared at first has warmed up to me in less than an hour so far he is sticking around he doesnt have a collar tags etc and i live out in the country so there is no aspca or any organisation who will take him so what do i do to help him btw i dont mind him sticking around but idk if my mom would let me keep him but he is really nice and a great dog and i have no problem letting him hang around and trying to feed him but idk if i can get him really good food etc i think me giving him food is better than him getting no food but it would be like a week til i could get him dog foodok like i said no pound or animal rescue no nothing animals get dumped off where i live and there is no help for them they have to fend for themselves no organisasion will get them because im not in city limits!

It sounds like in your situation you are doing the right thing. I would try to get something other than cat food for him though as cat food isn't good for dogs and vice versa. It's also worth a shot to ask your mom if you can keep him for good. If you cannot and you don't think you can take care of him, please take him to the nearest shelter. At least there he will have food and water. Food, water ,and love...If you can provide that then that is better than what the dog has apparently ever had before. Just keep in mind the dogs best interest. As I said; if you can't take care of him please look into a shelter or rescue group.

You might take a picture of him and post in in places where everyone goes like the P.O. or grocery. Chances are he just got lost. Dogs need meat though so cat food won't keep him healthy for long. You might look in the phone book and call a local vet to see if anyone has lost their dog. They may also be able to help you find where he can go if he isn't claimed.

Giving him cat food is better than giving him nothing at all. If he is a stray and he is hungry, chances are he has been eating alot worse things that cat food, so until you can get your mom to go to the store and get him some dog food, continue to feed him the cat food so that he doesn't feel like he is going to starve.J. i have to agree with the other people who say you're doing the right thing!! Cat food is better than nothing!!! And to you people who think it will make the dog sick your CRAZY!! Its all the same crappy BY-PRODUCTS that in dog food....READ THE LABEL!!! Keep trying to get your mom to help you out, but i also agree to put up posters just to make sure hes not a wanderer!!! And if no one claims him, you have a new best friend!!!
