Hi Everyone,
I am a new here, and I am at my witts end on how to rescue this little
stray, male dog...
In January the owner of this small 2 year old terrier mix passed away.
She was elderly, her sister lived with her..(Elderly, as well) This is how
the story starts...The surviving sister decided she didn't want this dog
anymore, tossed him out onto the streets..The precious dog was caught,
(in a humane trap) and returned, approximately a week later, She tossed
him out again...:twisted:A few weeks after that, little pooch was trapped again. Given to a family with children, they decided he was way too much work, so they tossed him out..

This is where I came into the picture...He was wondering the streets, and I started leaving food out for him. But after watching him for about a week I found where the little guy has been sleeping at night, Starting to feed him healthy foods, water, iced water since it's been so hot out, gave him bedding, kept it clean, this has been going on for over 2.5 months now. I can get within 10 feet of him and he takes off like superman..he now thrust no one.
I was told he loved pizza, I went out special and bought some for
him. (although this isn't good for him, I thought he would befriend me)
I laid on the ground with him just over 10 feet away from me and he'd
just stare at me..if I moved my foot, he'd inch away...I stayed there
for four hours..Call me crazy, but I am worried about him..

He knows how to escape traps (humane) he escapes nets, and he is a
wizz on his feet. and since has become very street smart. Animal Control
can not catch him..The rescue has given up since he escapes thier traps.Animal control thought he's was a fantom because he hides well, and outsmarts everyone...By the way, since I have been feeding him, this little guy is in a neighbors yard, hiding most of the time.
I had to get written permission that I could do what I am doing..and a release in case something would happen. Well, to make this story shorter than what it is, I need more advise in trying to rescue this little fellow...He travels across the interstate, he crosses five lanes of traffic, he is from one end of town to the next...

He now watches my every move, still deciding what or who I am, and Why am I doing this for him..Still no thrust!

I am so worried that he's going to get hit by a car, or that he is going to find
some tainted food that may kill him. It's just a matter of time, especially with
summer coming.
I am willing to care for him, I am willing to groom him, (he needs this so
desperately, long hair) and vet him,(definely will need to be checked out once he is cleaned up, and neutered) and I am willing to love him and have patience with him..I know that He's still looking for his former owner...my heart aches for him..
Any suggestions?
I have just moved a kennal cage, food and water to our house, a few doors down from where he is...decided not to feed him as much as I have been at the neighbors, just hoping he will start to hang out here, rather than there...(The owner of the property is loosing it...he's killing her bushes..)
The sister must have terribly abused him after they returned him to her..and
she left him go ago, her response was simply put to the rescue workers,
"He's a bad dog and I hate him. He cries, he whines, I don't want him around anymore." The second family children may have been too much on him and he probably still cried and whinned for his former owner. They just put him
outside and wouldn't do anything for him. No food, water, nothing, in the middle of Winter. Now he is on the streets fending for his own. The longer he
is on his own the more difficult it is going to be to work with him. We are older, have no children and would love to help him in any way we can. Any advise would be appreciated...thanks so much for this newbie...Sorry for the
long post, I'm just soooo concerned..
