what do you think she might be??
I rescued this pretty girl from the side of the road. She was just roaming around and sooo skinny. I couldnt just leave her. I did ask some of the neighbors in the area if they knew who she belonged to. But no avail. So, I brought her home. Now, that i have her here. She is a sweet girl. Seems very happy to just have someone to love on her. So, now I am curious. Do you have any suggestions? ( know it will actually be just guesses) But I thought it would be interesting to hear what a few of you think about what she could be.

Welcome to the forum!
There is something about her that reminds me a little of a Golden Retriever with something else of course like maybe Australian Shepherd mixed in.
I can't help noticing her back teat---hanging or swelled--Do you think she has pups or is this a worry about mammary tumor. It worries me as I just had my rescued dog operated on for mammary cancer.

First thanks for your opinion about the mix suggestion.
About the teat, It is swelled from milk. When we found her she was dryed up. We asked around to see if anyone had seen any pups as well as hunted ourselves, but as she was dried up we figured (hubby and I as well as the neighbors in the area) assumed someone dropped her off after the pups were weened or something to that affect. But once we started feeding her and giving her water she started swelling up and producing milk. The condition she was in I just couldn't leave her. She is way to skinny and no none of the neighbors were feeding her hoping she would go home. But as skinny as she is. She had to of not been eating for a while. I will also add I work as a kennel tech at a local vet clinic. So, first thing Monday morning I had the vet give her a good look over to make sure nothing else was going with her other than no getting enough food. Vet gave her a clean bill off health other than the malnourishment. She checked her teats/belly.

Aww poor thing. I'm glad you helped her & she was ok'd by the vet!! She does look so skinny. I don't have a guess on the breed but she does look to be a little sweetie! Are you planning on keeping her?

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

As of this point, I am just saying I am fostering her. Hubby has some pretty bad allergies to some long haired dogs. So, we are on a trial run. Keeping fingers crossed that she doesnt bother his allergies. However if she does the clinic I work for does a small amount of adoptions and such. So, I can find her a good home threw my work, during which time she can stay there until a great home is found for her. But no matter what she cant be re-homed until she has put on weight and she is no longer producing milk. So, heres to hoping she doesn't bother hubby's allergies. She is such a sweetie. Loves the kids as well as me and hubby. The other 2 dogs well she is unsure of them still, but hasnt acted out to twards them, but can tell she is scared and iffy about them. I just love her to death already! Man, I just get way to attached to animals way to easy..hahaha

So glad it is not cancer! Sounds like she has found a good home with you--Hope your husband's allergies don't flare up. She does look like a real sweetie--Lol, has that Golden look to me (Can you tell I favor that breed?!) Give that girl a hug for me! I may have to 'back down' on the Australian Shepard part of my guess---I asked our expert on breeds here--YOGI--What he thought of my guess--He said no Australian Shepherd! He suggested maybe some Lab mixed in with the Golden Retriever--and that he has seen that coat color in that combination before.
No matter what she is--She is a keeper! (for you I hope!) Keep us posted on how she is improving--weight gain, etc--personality--Hey, the works! And I know how easy it is to get attached to a dog!

My guess would be there is some Australian Shepherd in her. I've seen a dog that looks very similar to her. Brindle, medium soft coat, big head, he was crossed with a Pit Bull though (what an odd mix). but to me, she looks (in build) very Aussie. I really hope she didn't have pups that're too young to be without their mother anywhere. Poor girl. sometimes, people just suck.
It's a good thing she found you!

Hey Babydolwv!
Just saw this hint for if you are allergic to dogs. Never tried it but here it is: Got allergies? Try hypoallergenic/fragrance-free baby wipes
Wiping down your pet daily lessens the amount of allergy-causing dander and shedding. Using Johnson’s baby shampoo during your dog or cat’s bath is also a very gentle way to help rid dander and excess hair.
Not sure about the 'human' shampoo--Thinking it might be better for the dog to use dog shampoo but using the hypoallergenic/fragrance-free baby wipes sounds interesting!
